Trip vlogger goes full time and rebrands

Mon Jan 28, 2019 5:01 pm

One of YouTube's better vloggers, Paul Lucas, is rebranding his "Paul's trip Reports" channel to "Wingin' It".

Paul is definitely one of the best reporters on all kinds of travel including railways but mostly aviation. It isn't me by the way! I just really enjoy his accurate, honest style and top quality production values. As his channel has grown sufficiently he has now decided to go full-time and his recent round the world series was excellent.

I enjoy Paul's Trip Reports and wish him well as he expands his passion. This seems similar to what Dantorp did a few years back.

I only discovered his channel last year and have really enjoyed his videos, I definitely prefer his newer ones which are narrated throughout meaning I can glance at my work when trying to multi-task but that is all part of developing something and "finding one's groove".

I've got to admit he inspired me to have a go at making my first trip report for YT, (I had originally just planned to have a go at posting a written one with pictures on here instead) and now I've got three up with another 5 to come online in the next few weeks - don't worry, no shameless plugs ;) . Looking at my viewing figures for my own channel it is very clear to me that there is a high demand for trip reviews, just checking the real-time analytics my 3 reviews are miles ahead of my other videos (100-300 per 48 hours vs 40-10 per 48 hours). I can certainly see how a channel with a lot of videos and viewership can make enough to quit the day job, especially if they have patreon support and merch etc... It's even more likely when a channel and it's content are as excellent as Paul's.
