My handmade airports (1:500 scale).

Sat Nov 02, 2019 2:28 pm

Ciao to all.
Since years i am building and selling handmade airports. I use multilayer wood panels then i use paint, tempera colors, Uniposca and Lumocor pens, rulers, skills and...the "miracle" is done.
I have created many airports, real and fantasy, but in the last years i am specializing in real airports and i also started to build the terminal buildings by myself, using the wood.
Enjoy.

Rhodes Airport (Greece).

This is the version before Fraport changed the apron and the parking stands.

Do you have pictures of your IAD? I would love to see it.
About HKT, is it the old one or the one with new terminal?

I will post the pics of Washington "Dulles" in the next hours.
About Phuket i am interested in reproducing the sea, sand, grass and runway (the most important features of this holiday airport) and part of the apron with a section of the new terminal building.
I am finishing the storage space with all the airports i have realized so i can't use big wood panels, at least wood panels big enough to realize large aprons.
My plan is to cover all the world with the most important/beautiful/useful airports i am interested in: i particularly love holiday airports with a leisure/charter traffic, then international/intercontinental hubs with a large European traffic. In fact, even for IAD and SEA i realized section of the airports with international terminal buildings and, for SEA-TAC, even the next to-be-built walkway bridge (i am really proud of it!).
Living in Europe (Italy -> Rome) i am interested in airports used by European airlines for their long haul routes, covering all the continents.

Among the airports i have realized there are also:

Manchester Terminal 2
London City
Salzburg
Innsbruck
East Midlands Cargo area

Among the airports i planned there are also:

Nuremberg
Montego Bay
Seychelles
Reunion "Roland Garros"
Mauritius
Varadero
a cargo hub like Leipzig-Halle
a Canadian airport (Edmonton or Vancouver or Toronto).

As i already said i am realizing section of the airports because the entire airport is too big and i have no space; i have realized big sections of London City, Dubai (for a friend from Dubai), Rome FCO Satellite terminal, Malta.
I have about 15.000 models in 1:500 scale so i have to find an hub for the majority of them...

Can't wait to see it. And put some planes at IAD for 'real' feeling :)

This beauty is St. Maarten, the beautiful airport with the "crazy" landings just over the heads of the many tourists and spotters of Maho beach.

Nice Terminal B at IAD :) If you want it to be exact, place Alitalia A330 to the second gate on the left of the Mid field ATC tower. They park at B48 :)
