Longest possible flight in the world?

Sun Jan 05, 2020 1:26 am

There's been a thread discussing the longest possible flight in the world, but it is more than 5 years old. But I think I found the longest possible flight between two airports:

WIII - SKTJ

10819nm / 20037km

Bearing is (I believe) 179.94 degrees.

Would you survive this flight?

TWA (B 1-10-1930, D 1-12-2001)

Well, Rutan and Jaeger flew around the globe and survived, so there’s that.

Try LIS-AKL and you would be almost a full day in the air.

If it is within the Earth's atmosphere, the longest flight ever was two dudes in the 50s in a Cessna 172 doing some advertising for a hotel. 64 days, 22 hours, 19 minutes and 5 seconds.

Doesn't matter, a fanboy of the 'Other' team will come back with "But with what payload?" and then the same discussion occurs and the thread gets locked! :duck:

Just go to http://www.gcmap.com and type in any airport code. Under the information it displays the closest and furthest airfield from that point. e.g for LIS - it's:

Farthest: NPL: 12263 mi / 19735 km
New Plymouth, TKI, NZ
