Frontier Q400 Tail photo requests

Sun May 17, 2020 5:04 pm

Hello everyone
I hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy during these difficult times. I am asking for the help of the entire aviation community for a legacy project. I am currently working with a repainter to paint the entire Lynx Aviation(Frontier) fleet into the majestic Q400 for P3D V4.5 and V5. I need help in finding tail section photos of N501LX through N509LX, and also N511LX. The photos have to be a certain angle that’s why the photos here on Airliners.net can’t work unfortunately. If there are even more photos out there that people can provide it would be most appreciated.

Thank you all and stay healthy

This is a link to a tail section the repainter is looking for when doing this project. https://www.flickr.com/photos/frontiera ... 4jq-6GHzzM

Have you tried Lockon Aviation website? Q400s are near the bottom of the webpage. http://lockonaviation.net/html/fleets.php?fli_shortname=f9

If he doesn't have what you want on the webpage email him to see if he has suitable photos in his collection.

Cheers

I did look at that website and contacted the individual who runs it and he said those are the only photos he has. I believe that website could help for tail’s 501 through 503, 505, 507(after photo shop), 508, maybe 509, and 511. The other two 504, and 506 have a bad angle to them so it won’t be able to work.
Thank you for the suggestion.

When I painted the Frontier tails for the Majestic Q400, I had to do some photoshop touch ups and interpolation to most of them because the nature of the Q400 tail there's a natural shadow over them because of the t-tail. One thing that helped me was the fact that many of the images had been recycled from previous Frontier planes, like the CRJ and 737 even, and I was able to borrow images from those planes and do a manual patch/blend of the images to come up with something that worked for the tail texture.

You can find my Frontier Q400 repaints here: http://nbflightsim.com/?tag=frontier-airlines

It’s too cumbersome and difficult to publish updates to repaints on Avsim, Flightsim, and the other sites. I post some stuff there but after 20+ years of doing repaints for various flight sims it’s easier to keep it on my own site where I can update things faster if needed.
