Aviation historian George W Cearley passed away last week, at the age of 73.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Mr. Cearley wrote more than two dozen photographic histories of major airlines and airliners, as well as books about Dallas Love Field and Atlanta Hartsfield / Jackson Airport.
Although his books are 30 to 40 years old, because they are so well written and illustrated, they sell for $50 to $75 on Ebay. His most popular book, Braniff International in Color, often sells for more than $150.
His passing is a real loss to the airline hobby, but people will refer to his excellent books for many years to come.
