Programming Sony Air 8 Scanner

Tue Aug 23, 2022 2:27 am

Good evening everyone, I just purchased a Sony Air 8 off of eBay and the instructions were not enclosed so I can't figure out how to program it. I looked online for user manuals but only seemed to find servicing manuals available. Any help is appreciated! :)

Its essentially the same radio as Air-7 with added band coverage.

Here is Air-7 instruction manual
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/68393 ... Air-7.html

Used to own one. Pretty good airband reception for its day.

So far so good for the most part. The only issue is the #9 key pad button doesn't work but I can still program frequencies with a 9 in it by scrolling the scan + and - buttons. Also the further away from the airport the weaker the signal gets for ground, but that's to be expected since I live about 4 miles or so away so I wear earphones to help with listening to ground transmissions (air transmissions naturally come in excellent.)

Outside of air band, AM and FM works very well, PSB on the other hand seems to be relatively faint since the NOAA Weather frequency always seems to be not as loud as any of the other bands.
