I seem to recall that my first diecast airliner was this rather odd looking Eastern 727 painted bright yellow! It wasn't that different from a Schabak, Herpa or Dragon Wings type diecast plane either as I recall. Of course I was only 6 or so at the time and it got trashed pretty quick. For Christmas that year, I received some of the brand new Matchbox diecast planes. Most were military, but the set did include an Air France Airbus. When I was living in Okinawa back in 1978-79, I had a toy Pan Am 747 with see-thru interior and a JAL 747 with ground crew set. I also had a few diecast airliners, such as a JAL 747 (complete with all the landing gear bogies) and a KLM DC-10. All are long gone today.
Of airliner model kits, the two I can recall the most are a Revell Concorde kit I got when I was 11 and a Monogram American Airlines DC-10 (ex-Aurora kit) I got when I was 16 or so. Both models are long gone now. I have a few unbuilt airliner kits right now and am working on a Minicraft 777 to be done up in
BA markings.
Only other airline model I have right now is a Bachmann Miniplane Concorde still in the box. Now those Bachmann planes might not have been diecasts or even big, but they were cool for the time.
