For me it was looking out the window one day when I was 12, and thinking where my life was going (kinda "deep" for a 12 year old), but then as I thought this a plane inbound for
MAN came overhead, I went to the window and saw it was it flew out of view around the hill, and I wondered what kind of plane I was looking at.
So I got as many books as I could, then It started out visiting
MAN whenever Concorde was in, and finally when I was around 14 I decided to visit
MAN for myself, I dont remember taking my "first trip" but I do remember feeling "nervous" about it, and to think about it now actually makes me smile.
Now to me
MAN is like a second home, I know the layout of the airport, all the "short-cuts" and where the best viewing areas are.
After 9/11 I dont visit
MAN as often now, but I try to whenever I can, Ive always wanted to work there, but after 3 years of trying it looks to be in Vain.
Netherless my love of aviation keeps-on, from going to the Paris airshow last year, and seeing Concorde retire to seeing the 777 being born and now the A380.
Ive been to a lot of places whilst plane-spotting, most of the UK airports Iceland, Spain, Italy, France, Austria...theres loads more places Id love to see and lots more aircraft to "tick-off".
Im also now into the art of aircraft photography, mostly experimenting using different angles and light (quite often I can go through 24 pics, and only be "happy" with 1 pic.)
Anyway Ive met a lot of great people over the years, never actually known them to get their names or number, but still I love the whol spotting community.
Its not the fall that kills u, its the sudden stop at the end..
