Landing In FS2002/2004.........

Fri Aug 27, 2004 12:49 pm

i just have one question for all you flight-simmers! When landing, how can you get the spoilers to automaticaly deploy upon touchdown? Everytime I land, I have to hit the " / " key to manually deploy them as well as holding down the " F2 " key for the thrust reversers. Is there a way to get them to lift up when the landing gear struts hit the ground like the real thing?

I dont think there is a way, but I dont complain because sometimes i like to use them in the air aswell, but what I have done is swapped things around so the button for the reverse thrust i can hit while using the same hand for steering and such, works quite well.

Shift + / = automatic deployment. It should move the lever to the armed position on the throttle quadrant

Arm the autobrakes prior to landing.

SUJ, I think that the autobrake is a different thing. AA7771stClass is correct about Shift+/.

@Chicago757

As AA7771stClass correctly pointed out how to arm the spoilers I'd like to ad that with some a/c types the deployment will only take place when the reverses are engaged. It depends on the a/c type.

RTO is for Rejected TakeOffs....say you roll down the runway and abort the takeoff roll before you reach V1....you'll probably have about 1/3 of the runway left to stop in, or thereabouts. The RTO setting applies maximum braking if the throttles are retarded to idle.

Interestingly, Airbuses do not have an RTO switch but instead require autobrake set to MAX for take off, it is then automatically switched off after departure.

If you're into full realism, the "MAX" setting on Airbuses cannot be selected for landings. "MAX" is strictly on for take-offs.

Arm the spoilers wirh Shift and # and they should deploy.
Andd the autobrake on 3 and be quick with the reverse and you get some nice short rollouts...
