I'm not sure if this whole idea and the system behind it work well, but I have calculated the whole thing and it seems like we can expect to have some fun with this little game!
Here's how it works: 16 teams can play, so the first 16 A.net members who sign up their team will be in!
How do you create a team? Basically, you need 11 airplanes who are your players. They all need to be in the same color scheme (obviously), except for the goalie, who can have a different one. But still, all your 11 players need to be one airline (that no one has entered with before you). If you've still not understood how it works, look at my team below! (Team Icelandair)
What happens next? As soon as all 16 teams are up, the matches will start! There will be four matches every evening at 22:00 UTC! (I chose this time because it seems ideal for both european and american time zones)
Later, in the finals, there will be fewer matches each day.
The first 4 teams to sign up will be group A, the next four will be group B, then group C and group D. Matches will be according to the following schedule:
Day 1) 1 vs 2, 5 vs 6, 9 vs 10, 13 vs 14
Day 2) 3 vs 4, 7 vs 8, 11 vs 12, 15 vs 16
Day 3) 1 vs 3, 5 vs 7, 9 vs 11, 13 vs 15
Day 4) 2 vs 4, 6 vs 8, 10 vs 12, 14 vs 16
Day 5) 1 vs 4, 5 vs 8, 9 vs 12, 13 vs 16
Day 6) 2 vs 3, 6 vs 7, 10 vs 11, 14 vs 15
Day 7) Winner A versus second B, Winner C versus second D
Day 8) Winner B versus second A, Winner D versus second C
Day 9) The two winners of day 7 against each other
Day 10) The two winners of day 8 against each other
Day 11) Play for the 3rd place!
Day 12) The big FINAL!
OKAY... now how will a match be played? Who wins? Ok, this is how it works: One referee (we'll figure that out before each match, depending on who has time) will do the following at 22:00 UTC: He will simply determine each opposing team's strength number. It consists of every player's last digit of the "times viewed" number of the photo in the a.net database. Since this number is not updated right after each visit, but some while later, it is perfectly fair. Whoever has the higher number, wins!
(For example: Your 11 players' photos have been viewed 12, 45, 333, 25, 3, 77, 548, 2, 99, 105, 12 times. Just take the last digits of all those, at the time of the match, and this team's strength is 42! Easy and perfectly fair, right?
OK! Enough said! Let us begin enrolling our teams! Here's mine, Team Icelandair:
