After searching around on a.net and searching around the 'net, the Level D 767 and the PMDG 737ng seem the most bang for the buck as far as quality and thoroughness goes. The raves about the two aforementioned payware aircraft make them the most logical choices. After browsing around thier respective websites, I am pleased with what I see, espically in the panel and livery departments.

I'll probably buy one or the other (or both) this evening. Any tips before I buy?

Gofly, that was some amazing screens you got there, please tell me that at least one of the Easyjet screens are edited? Or I'll have to ditch my system and get some new gear

It looks like he resized larger pictures, which would explain the 'enhanced quality' effect that we see. Gofly, what resolution do you game at?

Definitely correct there, the LDS and PMDG737 are stunning! The only choice you will have to make is between the 737NG or the 738/9. There is almost nothing in it, so it is just personal preference. Or you could buy both..... Big grin One thing that is essential, is make sure you read the manuals, they are very good. The panel is 100 million times more complicated then any freeware out there. Once you grasp the FMC, the world is your oyster! Big grin Any other questions just ask!  Smile

My FS runs at 1024x768. I usually resize the shots to 800x600. This helps hide any jaggies there might be. Careful if you do do this though, because sometimes you can get a nasty compression effect.  Smile

Thanks again,

Real quick question which will probably make me look stupid- what is the function and significance of the "CRS" button on the AP? I've seen it, and am proficient at every other use of the AP, but I have no idea what that in particular does...

I haven't been posting any shots for a while because I was doing a very long flight from Newark to Hong Kong as COA99 with a 777. This flight was very nice because I had to divert to Beijing to put more fuel because due to a strong face wind I didn't had enough to go strait to Hong Kong. I hope you'll enjoy the following pics.

Today I realised that maybe I should be more careful in the future when I fly into AMS. That NL2000 scenery made the final part of the flight a slideshow. And I had a little trouble with the landing (I didn't use the terminal procedures properly, since I didn't include a runway transition into the arrival I programmed into the FMC, so when I used the localiser intercept, it had trouble joining the ILS, so it took time to get that right  banghead  Wink, but anyway...

My first longhaul in a long time:

Airline: Martinair
Aircraft: Boeing 767-31AER (PH-MCH, Prins Constantijn)
Flight number: MP618
Departure Airport: La Habana/José Martí International Airport, Cuba (HAV/MUHA)
Destination: Amsterdam/Schiphol Airport, The Netherlands (AMS/EHAM)
Departure time: 17:15
Arrival time: 08:20

FOB Before Engine Startup: 121,342.15 lbs
FOB After Engine Shutdown: 17,407.96 lbs

I'm very happy with the fuel planning though. Usually my calculations are off and I'm actually tankering when flying, but this time, I landed with all the fuel I needed. No tankering here. Big grin

Jeffry747, great JAL shots! One thing got my attention though, yer airport is a little... well... naked. I can help ya install some traffic if you'd like.

Pilot kaz, nice British Airways shots. I've fallen in love with the new British Airways liveries. Keep up the good work.

Aircanada333, nice night shots, I espically like the ones on approach.

GEEZ, once again your screenshots kick the crud out of mine. I am so buying active camera (in refrence to the shots in reply 49 and 64). What traffic package do you have installed? Your Gatwick airport is absolutely packed! Where did you get the Gatwick scenery??? I must have!! Also, there's freeware 70m terrain data available for the entirety of Europe, it looks like you have that installed already?

I, have created a monster. Freedomtofly, those screenshots are incredible! I don't know what the heck you did to that video card, but you did it right.

Aircanada333, once again, awesome shots! Looks like you passed your equal-but-opposite enroute! Nice landing shots as well. If your screen resolution is large enough, check out 777pan_rjy.zip for a good panel, available on avsim.

Staralliance24, absolutely stunning landing, looks like you had a good 20kt crosswind! The British Airways 777 has gotten popular this week. I'm gonna play around with the Meljet 777 and see if I can't get rid of those hugemungous strobe and nav lights at the wingtips! If I can fix them I'll let yall in on the secret.

LTU932, perhaps I have underestimated your sneakiness! I had to go back and fix this post cuz you snuck yours up under mine. I take it that's the Level D 767 since you mentioned an FMC and your have that amazing virtual cockpit. Awesome shots.

Keep 'em comin!

Yah, I know. As you are probably aware, I fly for virtual Norwegian, and I wanted to keep the VA thing to one, and as I was with VNAS in the first place, they got the vote (Plus I had flown them in real life which was an influencing factor!).

Only works for stationary lights. The Meljet has flexing wings, so the lights aren't controlled by lines of text in the aircraft.cfg file.

Alas, how did you do it?

I dunno, I just messed with some stuff and whatever I did, it fixed the lights.

Flight: EIDW-KJFK
Airline: Aer Lingus
Aircraft: A330-300
Flight duration: 6 hours and 11 minutes

My personal comments: My Worst landing ever with the T7.

I never have good landings with the T7 myself. The Meljet FDE is outdated and makes the nose for me far too heavy. I can't even make a halfway decent flare because of that.  banghead

Flaring was never a problem for me on the T7. However, when I pop the spoilers on touchdown, the nose slams down like a brick. Is there a remedy to this problem?
