A surprise indeed. Not only the timing but the airline as well. It looks really good and I have never seen IST and ATH on your DVDs before so am looking forward to that.

Interesting video, I just ordered the Albanian DVD. Not only does it have interesting destinations but it's also 3 hours long! I'm curious about Albanian Airlines and their operations also.

Well that is a supprise i thaught you would not be releasing the new one until next week. So it is very nuice to see ALBANIAN BAe 146 as your new programe. Was it hard to film in Albania? Anyway i'll be calling BUCHAir very shortly

Our warehouse will be closed the following week from April 28 (See Order Info section) so had we released this one next Friday customers would have had to wait 10 days for their order to ship, that is why we released it today...
Buchair won't have their stock till next week Thursday or Friday though...

The DVD does indeed offer some good destinations, that is part of the reason we went with Albanian.
We did miss Pristina which was planned but fog forced the cancellation of that flight...
It's probably been a while since we went to IST... we did with the Turkish A340 from JFK... also on the currently available MNG DVD with 3 flights into IST... not sure if there were any others...

For ATH, we fly there on the Armenian A320, might not be any others... not sure.. I believe in the past we've flown into the old airport but I might be wrong...

No, we're not.. Every airline that joins the series is as important as the next one so we don't want to honor 1 more than another one...

The crews on this program were very willing to go into details and that's why its such a long program... and we had to cut a lot to get it down to 3h25mins...
Its probably the program that goes into the most details on the BAe146.
The only thing that is missing is the walkaround and that goes along with a funny story... That was scheduled to be filmed on the last flight out of Tirana but our crew pick up forgot to pick up and in the end they made it to the aircraft at the very last second... other than this tiny slip up the Albanians were extremely nice hosts and our crew had a very enjoyable week in Tirana.

Is Albanian operated by a foreign company or is it an actual Albanian airline? I noticed on the preview the CA seemed to have a half French accent and the FO had an Italian name.

There is a mix... 1 or 2 of the Captains are Albanians, 1 is a Bulgarian I believe and the head of operations is Greek... as far as the First Officers.. there is 1 possibly 2 French guys

It happens more than once that 2 Captains are in the cockpit so the one sitting in the right seat has 4 stripes... I don't remember specifics of the Gemini DC10 but its very possible...
Also when a Captain gets a check ride, that is done by another Captain and sometimes he will sit in the right seat...

Hi JPV I have seen your advanced notice it seems you have been/ still are very busy. I would like to ask one question this time I fully understand about you naming future airlines, and I know about the chances of you filming airlines such as Emirates and Cathy Pacific etc but would World Airlines fit into that category.

Many thanks

I know this may seem a little off the Hobby topic but I was wondering what those of you have viewed the new Air Atlanta DVD feel. I have only had a chance to watch the first flight portion from LUX-SIN . I was a little surprised by the amount of cockpit time without relief pilots, 12 hours. There flight is a little over 11 hours. To be frank they really started to look tired as a dickens toward the end and really admitted it. At my age I get weary quite fast, and when I do I know that mentally I am a little less sharp.
This is in no way meant as a criticism of Air Atlanta but I wonder if regulations should be changed?
Having said this I will tell you that they are a very professional crew and I cannot wait to watch the rest of the program.

That is correct, 1 new program and 1 program that was sold out...

In the meantime right now we're having a special "Defunct Airline" weekend.. where you can save $5 to $10 on 10 programs of airlines that no longer exist...

Hello JPV

Back in the days of video, in your series of World Airports you produced a programme showing the three mane airports in the Dominican Republic. Is there any chance of updating that or just re-release it.

Many thanks

The new programme looks great. Do you often meat up with old faces, both in-front and behind the camera when you return to a company; i seem to recall the SABINA A310 pilot was in an later programme flying the Airbus 330.

I would love to see a A-340 or a flight across the Pacific to learn about crossing that region as the Atlantic has been covered before.

In addition to the Sabena Captain you mention, I also remember two Captains who returned on Jetsgo DVD. They were Captain Christensen, Jetsgo YYZ-YVR-YYZ ,who was first officer on Royal Airlines A310 London -YYZ .Also Captain Lewis, Jetsgo YYZ-YTC , originally first officer on Royal Airlines B727, to Mexico.

The above examples kind of make sense... Sabena and then Royal and Jetsgo since that was the same owner and lots of pilots from Royal ended up at Jetsgo... I have one that's a bit more unusual... A Sobelair B767 Captain is also the Captain on the Blue Panorama B767... other than that can't think of other examples but I would not be surprised if there were more...

After watching the new Corsair presentation i have two observations 1/ How difficult it was for the flight dispatch to give the briefing in English. I truly felt sorry for him, he managed to give a full briefing in a second language, a lot lot more than I could do. 2/ Why at the end credits do we have Capt Plaud and crew. Where as before we are given the co-pilots etc name.

I did not feel right to post these comments onto your web site.

J P, I am curious about the new Corsair video. I have watched the first part, ORY-SXM and am wondering why after talking in clear english during the fligt, the captain gave the company presentation in french only? I personally would have enjoyed hearing the english language version.

Not sure what can be said to comment nbr 1... Over the course of our filming with 200 airlines we've had a number of them where pilots or other airline representatives did not speak good English or English at all...
Comes to mind the Lao Airlines... No one there spoke English so we basically did an entire DVD without a single word from any of the pilots.
I have to commend the pilots at Corsairfly for doing their best to talk English to the camera and for agreeing to do the ATC communications in English.

I think all in all being able to bring a DVD of a 747-400 flying into St Maarten was more important than perfect English... the nice thing about our series is that we show airlines and routes all over the world, not only those where pilots speak perfect English as this would limit our series seriously.

As to why the copilot Names weren't included... I'm not sure... The 2 Names that are on the credits are the ones that the airline requested to be credited...

You have to understand that when we make agreements with the airlines, we have to agree to certain things they want and they have to agree to certain things we want... that's how we get to produce these programs and that's why there are some airlines we will never be able to work with... but we just filmed our 200th airline a couple of weeks ago so all in all its worked pretty well I'd say...

If Corsairfly wants to include a 3 minute presentation for the French viewers then I think that is a great idea, after all we have a lot of French speaking customers buying our DVDs and this is something special for them... I know we've done this in some other languages as well including German...

On a similar theme, have you ever filmed an airline and produced an English language version where there is no speaking from the pilots, ie Lao Airlines, and a similar version where there is pilots speaking in their native language? This might be say in Spanish or French were I am sure you have lots of Spanish or French buyers who would like to hear the speaking.

I believe you might have taken my question as criticism and in no manner did I mean it to be so. Actually I think the filming was done in a very professional manner and I enjoy it. I still have the VCR version of Corsair and have played it many times [although I do have the dvd of it now]. My statement is that I would have enjoyed english company presentation as they are now part of TUI group and I wonder how their operations are different now.

Please forgive me I take my hat off to the dispatch officer. I only wanted to say it seemed obvious that he was trying his best in a difficult situation. He could certainly speak a lot better English than my school boy French.

I'm not sure... its very possible but considering we've done more than 300 cockpit programs over the past 15 or so years its hard to remember...

My statement is that I would have enjoyed english company presentation as they are now part of TUI group and I wonder how their operations are different now.

Good point... I believe he mentioned that they were operating a 747-400 from Scandinavia to Thailand, probably for the Swedish arm of TUI who does not have anything larger than a 767...
We really always try to get these things done in English and it works in more than 90% of the cases.. but sometimes we have to accept something else...
