Hey All!
I just bought the Efzed Airlinesimulation and i'm finding it great! A game i knew i would love!
Though im findng it really hard to fill up my planes! Has anyone also found this hard?
I operate out of MAN with flights to the US, Asia using A310's and B763's.
Then many European flights with 733's. Basically high yielding routes!
I can't seem to fill my general flights with over 50-60%, does anybody have the same problem?

Well I have the same game, although an older version (maybe two years old by now or something like that).
How much do you charge? That seems to make a difference. I find the best system seems to be start low and your planes should be fairly full, then just up it a little each quarter untill the load factors start dropping slightly but are still high.
My current airlines are actually doing quite well with that system.
On one now my load factors are actually pretty good and I'm making a decent profit from my main base of YVR and focus cities at YXY, YZF and YYC, with my fleet of 5 707s, 24 HS748s and 4 737-100s (with 8 more on order).
My other, with bases at YZF and YFB isn't doing too badly either with 2 737-200Adv and 5 737-200C, but I still need to get the profits up a litte more for when my leases start running out.
But yeah basically the secret is, in my experience, keep utilization high, prices fairly low, and don't go overkill on frequency.

I am having a temporary addicted phase at the moment...
My current game started in 1991 and I am now up to Q3 1993. I started with $76m investment for my Orlando based High Density Short/Long haul airline, why is it I only get around $8m when I start up at LHR when everything else is the same???

I have bought out 3 loss-making airlines (loss making because of rising fuel prices - I got an ops deal at 21.5, it is now at 27 a barrel!) giving me a number of aircraft that I have no use for (and hubs in Toronto, San Diego and Aruba) - selling them all off and using them to buy A330s and 737-300s waiting for the 5 years to end so that I can merge the airlines together.
Is there any way of shortening this length of time?

I like starting around 1987.. Maybe go for some more high yield long haul routes, they generally get more money. How much legroom do you give (28-32")? How much do you charge? What do you give to passengers? The smaller planes won't ever earn as much as the bigger ones.. Mine are generally full, 80+% on most routes, and those which are just for kicks get 1 or 2, those usually being FF rewards too..
It's all about the destination AND the journey.

Ifyou start in the 70s, always just get 741s, they are really cheap and huge moneymakers. They are only $25m each, where 742s are more like $75m

Wait a minute, isn't this the game where lots of people complain about the bugs. I know that I was one of them.

Yep, whenever my airline gets big, I get the overflow bug, so after about 6 years on a game, it breaks

If you have a bug after the game started ... you are lucky. My one doesn't even start ! After about 2 months 10 mails between the support they now decided not to answer any more. I guess my money is lost.

While a somewhat fun game, it is no where near what anyone would reasonably call a "simulation". Every airline I've started, regardless of the time frame, is pulling in $1 billion plus per quarter in PROFIT by the end of the first five year period. My most recent start was 1975. I'm now in 1990 and have $50 billion in cash on hand.
Once I realized how easy the economic model was, I posted a note in their forums to the effect that "simulation" is probably not the best description of the game, and I went on to note some quirks of the financial model and offer some suggested improvements. That post was deleted within a day of me making it. When I queried why it was deleted, that query was deleted. I then received an e-mail from the company to the effect that the game is targeted at the lowest common denominator (i.e., simple games sell more than hardcore simulations), and if I didn't like it, too bad.
Given the price tag for this thing (which is really, at the end of the day, a database of aircraft and airport specs), you would have thought the developers could come up with some, anything, a bit more sophisticated.
In short, if you're looking to this game for an airline business simulation, expect to get $19.95 of value for a price of $69.95.

also bear in mind that for that price you only get one year worth of patches, once your year is up you are forced to pay again for another year of support. When 6.1 came out it was unplayable for the first 6 months due to bugs, a year later it was still buggy and crashed reguarly, then my support contract expired. there was no way in hell I was paying to extend it, that company has stolen enough money from me.
I payed for version 6.1 and got a game that bearly works.
Avoid them at all cost!
