'Mega Airport London Heathrow': Any Users?

Mon Jan 07, 2008 5:44 pm

Does anyone have any experience of using this addon for FSX (also available for FS9 I believe)?

Link to addon information:
http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/re...hop.cgi?showd20!0,4763809420,10227

I am thinking of purchasing as I do a lot of flying out of LHR with FSX, and would like more realism than is offered as standard. My computer is fairly powerful, so will be able to handle all that extra processing!  Smile

Thanks.

It looks pretty good, but not perfect! I can see 2 BA 737s in LHR?! I thought they only fly into LGW and the Airbusses fly into LHR Big grin

But it looks realistic, nice textures etc etc!

I'd go for it! But I dont use FSX because it sucks Big grin

Apparently, the UK2000 Heathrow is going to be the best.. I'd wait for that to be honest.

I have the Aerosoft one and love it, easy on the frames with incredible detail. Here is the link to UK2000 Scenery http://www.uk2000scenery.com they have a few already and are working on Heathrow. I have never bought any of their stuff but I do know I really like the Aerosoft one.

Aerosoft Heathrow arrived yesterday, have quite a few Aerosoft products and never been disappointed with any of them and this one is no exception. Framerates are excellent and the scenery quality is very high.

As I don't have much AI traffic at the moment, long story but started again from scratch just checking with those that have it, when you load it up the aircraft is actually at the hold short line of the runway and not lined up, ready to go ? Or do I have an Afcad glitch

I fly on vatsim so I don't use any AI traffic ever. All my static airplanes that were installed with the scenery are at the gates.

Yes ... it sucks the resources up, less alone the oxygen in the atmosphere. Anyway, I do have friends that use and rave a lot about it. I don't know if I should use this one or wait for the new one to come out. Truth is, most of my trans-atlantics are out of CDG, AMS, FRA, MXP, and FCO, so I really am not in a rush for this one.

I used both UK2000 Heathrow Pro and Aerosoft's Mega Airport LHR, and in my opinion, the Aerosoft rendition is much better and easier on the framerates, plus with Aerosoft's scenery, you can use AES with LHR (in FS9). UK2000 products will probably never become compatible with AES because according to Gary, the guy who makes the UK2000 sceneries, he doesn't have the time to work with Oliver Pabst (the creator of AES) to make his sceneries compatible with AES.

I don't think it gets it right. One screenshot overlooking the property from the East shows the paved surface formerly known as RWY 23 fully intact, yet according to the latest published charts, the Northerly section of that surface has been reconfigured into many smaller link ways.

There is one thing that really bugs me.

It pisses me off when some airport designers just place the runways on inaccurate points. This means in my PMDG 744 my PFD will show me that i am like half a mile off the runway and the heading of the runways is totally wrong.

You're welcome. Maybe I can do some more when I get a chance. Might do the BA001 / BA002 flights sometime soon.  Smile

It's easily the best Heathrow I've tried, and I also tried the other payware one (but only the demo of it). The difference is the sharpness of the ground, the runways and all the surrounding tarmac. And it runs really well too.

Well, of course it would on my quad-core super-computer, but compared with other airports, the results are superb. I only wish we could have this level of excellence bestowed upon lovely old Kai-tak!
