My Planned Global Alliances

Fri Sep 02, 2011 4:23 am

I really love airline alliances, because a group of airlines are what they made the members larger airlines. But, honestly, I only like them because of the pictures, livery, alliance logos, and some airlines teaming up. Although, the only member airline I flew was AM, which is a SkyTeam member. SkyTeam is also my favorite alliance.
I am thinking of some airline alliances that will have the ability to allow any major member, including LCC's to join.

Here are my alliances and founding member airlines:

*EarthSky Alliance - Cubana de Aviacion (Cuba), Qatar Airways (Qatar), Southwest Airlines (USA), Virgin America (UK/England), and Volaris (Mexico). It was originally FlyTeam, but I dont want to confuse you with SkyTeam.

*AmFly Alliance - Alaska Airlines (USA), Hawaiian Airlines (USA), Interjet (Mexico), JetBlue (USA), and WestJet (Canada). AmFly is a global alliance and allows airlines based in North, Central, and South America only.

*Fei Alliance (Fei means fly in Chinese) - EI Israel Airlines (Israel), Emirates (UAE), Iran Air (Iran), Shandong Airlines (China), and Spring Airlines (China). Fei Alliance is an all-Asia global alliance.

That's all my airline alliance ideas.
Note: Some or most airlines are not considering, approved, teamed-up, or chose to join an alliance.
If there's anything wrong, please reply.

There's likely only room for 1 more global alliance, at most.

Interesting ideas though.

I don't think we'll be seeing El Al and Emirates/Iran Air team up for quite some time, if ever.

Spring Airlines and Shandong airlines don't really add anything beyond a very regional operation within China.

Lots of fiction in this discussion.

Why would any alliance only allow airlines from North. Central and South America and then call themselves a "Global Alliance?" This to me makes no sense.

Most of these airlines are profitable for the very reason that they are NOT a member of an alliance.

What does Virgin America have to do with the UK/England? It is an American company. These alliances need airlines serving some more global key markets. Cubana and Qatar, together with a few low cost carriers would not create a compelling alliance.

There's only one alliance that would ever happen: Virgin- VX, VS, DJ, D7, and VK.

Hey, who says it won't happen?

I meant to say Virgin Atlantic. Sorry.
Plus, why WOULD Virgin America be an English carrier? Wow!
I'll correct the mistake as soon as possible.
Have a nice day!

I think you have some very compelling ideas there to be honest. All fictitious of course but there is nothing wrong with dreaming and 'what-if's'.

Although I would agree with posters before me that an all Asia alliance or an all North/Central America Alliance is not really global, I think you have hit upon a good idea. I think this idea of regional partnerships would be a good way of offering a more solid or efficient service over more of a region. For example for a North American alliance or "co-operation network" what about: B6 or WN, TA,
VOI and WS for a Canadian member. A group like this could team up and offer a nice solid network over a defined area instead of setting their sights globally.

As for El Al, I definitely think they would choose to become a member of a more European oriented alliance rather than an Asian alliance due to obvious political issues.

What about EuroIsraelite Alliance: LY, 6H, AZ, LX, JK, MA, BD and LO?

This would focus on connecting Israel (with 2 member airlines) with southern, central, western and eastern Europe.
