Newest Additions To Your Collection

Wed Dec 31, 2014 3:57 pm

I just ordered 3 new planes. All Gemini Jets because... I'm biased and I much prefer 1:400 scale

NZ 77W
AM 763
LH 735
And I bought a UA plush toy for my new born niece.

And final Bill? Probably way too much... But it's worth it...

What are the newest additions to your airplane collection?

1x 1:200 Goodyear Blimp.

I've liked blimps since I was a boy, and the newest model of Goodyear's blimp was one of my self-purchased gifts.

1:200 TWA DC-9-30 and a 1:200 TWA 727-200.

I just started collecting and these are my first. However, they take up a lot of room and are pretty pricey so I think I am going to switch to 1:400 scale. I can get three planes for the price of one larger one, plus I won't run out of space!

I just picked up a couple of herpa 1:500 classics for cheap off of ebay.

Royal 752/722
Hapag Lloyd oc 738
Southwest oc 733
Delta oc 772

Seems like theres some good deals for the old stuff. But I saw a Southwest 73G in the now old blue scheme going for $100!
Cleared for the option...

I was in Miami about 10 days ago and stopped by the airplane shop.

I don't have a ton of interest in collecting models anymore, but I bought a 1/500 CO 787-8 from Herpa, a CO 772 1/200 from Gemini, and a 1/400 TZ D10 fro Gemini.

As part of her Christmas gift, my partner Cassandra got me an American Airlines 1:500 scale A319 by SkyMarks. I was impressed to find that the fan blades rotate like the Hogan models!

My next purchase is going to be an Air Wisconsin/US Airways Express CRJ-200 by SkyMarks.

I have just got my first model. It is a Qantas B738 1:130. I am limiting myself to five, but one is plenty for now!

I just have one, an Atlas Air 747-400 pax model... 1:200 scale. I just am not interested in spending much money on more, and I don't have much space for them.

I just received a new Hogan AA 787-8 Dreamliner 1/200 scale.

This is the 5th Dreamliner in my collection, joining my UA

788 and 789's as well as 788 and 789 in Boeing house colors,

all 5 Hogan models.

Only strange thing is the silver mica finish on this AA 788 is

way more silvery than the other 2 new AA livery jets I have,

a 77W and 757 , both Skymark models. Not sure why

there is such a difference in paint.

The latest addiction to my 300+ strong collection of 1:200/250 Wooster models is a British Airways B777-200 in Landor scheme, model number W445. Mint condition with its original box, not bad for a 20 year old model. That addition also means that I now have an example of the whole BA fleet in Landor scheme. Just need to find a Landor 737-400 with original box to improve upon the one I have.

Current model collection:
1/100
--Northwest 747-400 (new colors)
--Northwest 747-400 (old colors) (all time favorite)
--Champion 727
--Northwest 757-200 (new colors)
--Northwest A330-300 (new colors, 1:125)
--Delta CRJ-900 (ExpressJet, new colors)
--Northwest CRJ-200 (bowling shoe)

1/200
--Midwest MD-88 (new colors, SkyMarks, 1:150)
--KLM MD-11
--KLM 747-400 (old colors, dark blue cheat line)
--Delta 717 (1:130)
--Northwest DC9-30 (new colors)
--Northwest DC-10 (new colors)

I've been looking for a Northwest DC9 and KLM MD-11 in 1/100 or larger that actually looks right... I've yet to find it. Big money if that thing shows up. Maybe at Airliners International this year. Fingers crossed.

My latest is a scale 1:100 Fokker 100 or KLM I bought while I was in AMS. I bought an identical one for my brother and that one came with two tails and no engines!

I took delivery of this 1:400 beauty recently!
http://bit.ly/1EDHDls

Other 1:400 deliveries this year:

Airbus A319 Piedmont N744P (Aeroclassics)
Airbus A319 Allegheny N745vj (Aeroclassics)

Airbus A330-200 Virgin Australia VH-XFA
Airbus A340-200 Sabena OO-SCW (Aeroclassics)

I don't think I've got anything on order atm, but am seriously tempted by the 1:200 Qantas Wunala Dreaming models from JC Wings.

I collect 1/400 civil and military models, and have over one hundred in secure storage mainly and on display...

Latest model: Azerbaijan 787-8, delivered this week.

Before that: a package order in one large box containing EY A380 in new livery, EY A340-600 in old F1 livery, a much desired AC 777-300ER with 'Vancouver 2010' titles, a Scoot Dreamliner 9, Canadian Pacific Britannia, two BA CRJs in different 'World Tails' colours, RCAF A310 tanker (in a sadly inaccurate fuselage colour) and a couple more that I honestly can't remember...

Before that: from a new 1/400 stockist I stumbled upon in northern Sydney ...
An Air India Dreamliner 8 in the OLD colourscheme, a bizarre model of the ORIGINAL (ie, non-XWB) A350-800 in Airbus house colours... And I want to return to buy a few more I saw there ...

Before that: a brilliant model of an SR-71 Blackbird that nestles beautifully beneath the wing of a Concorde model in my collection ...

But my most favourite 'recent' model, purchased a couple of months ago: Lufthansa 'Siegerflieger Fanhansa' 747-8!!!

Most wanted models ATM: anything Eastwest but especially an F27, Air Nuigini 757, UAE VIP Dreamliner, Bahraini VIP 767-400ER...

And the biggest 'hole' in my collection: ANY TriStar model of any operator, but especially a Cathay TriStar, a Hawaiian TriStar and an RAF TriStar.... I'd pay a fortune to have a TriStar in my collection! I foolishly knocked back a Faucett TriStar a few years ago when I started collecting, never imagining that it would the ONLY time I would ever see one on sale in a shop!

Cheers,
Bunumuring.

Just purchased an odd one: a Cathay Pacific Convair 880 in 1/400 scale, brand new, from a shop in Sydney. It appears to be from the airline itself as it doesn't have a manufacturer mentioned anywhere on the box, just a reference to the airline's online shop...
The model is painted well but the detail is basic. Still, it's my first Convair 880 (I have a Garuda Convair 990 already) and my first Cathay jet.
I also purchased a Hawaiian Airlines Convair 340... Another first of type and first model in my collection representing that airline.
Cheers,

Nice!!

I picked up a nice 1/400 collection of the Northwest DC-9-30/40/50 at Airliners International in ATL last week. Nice find for a steal. Also found a guy who will custom make me a LARGE Northwest DC-9 model when I can afford it. Going for 1:50 scale!

Today I bought a long-desired 777-200ER in the last Aeromexico 'polished metal' colourscheme, 1/400 scale Dragon Wings. Purchased in a 'collectors' store in northern Sydney that stocks the most amazing range of models of everything: cars, planes, trains, cartoon characters, pop culture stuff, rugby league/ AFL everything!

I finally caved in and purchased the ARD Laker Skytrain DC-10-10. For such a rare model, it does not seem to be selling well. Yet, it's more expensive than the new Series 30 release. G-AZZC, "Eastern Belle," was Freddie Laker's first DC-10. Maybe low-cost carriers are not that popular in the modeling world. However, I flew one of these on my first summer trip to England, back in 1981. Whenever I see pictures of these planes, they bring back a flood of very happy memories. My favorite models are of planes on which I had a memorable flight, so I am very happy with this model. (I know the corogard is a little off, but I can overlook that.)

I currently have my eyes on the 1:200-scale El Al Boeing 707-458, 4X-ATB. She served 25 years and survived a hijacking attempt in 1970. The aircraft still exists, but in very poor condition, in the colors of Lufthansa, at Berlin Tegel.

I just have to plan my purchases carefully, especially the costly 1:200 models, as my funds are limited.
