2014/2015 Winter Screenshots

Sat Jan 10, 2015 8:41 pm

Hey everybody...since we're into winter already, I felt it was appropriate to start a new winter thread. I've had a little more time to fly recently and have really enjoyed it. I'll start the thread by showing off the WONDERFUL Majestic Software Q-400. I decided to take her to CYVR...

Hi

How's the Majestic Dash 8?

Thinking about getting it myself to compliment the Wideroe Twin Otter

I think it's superb. The virtual cockpit is MAGNIFICENT. It is super-friendly with frame rates, too! I think all others (PMDG, Capt Sim etc) need to take some lessons from them in frame rate friendliness. The FMC is a little different. It's very functional but different than the Boeing FMC that I am familiar with. I will say it's the best commuter turbo-prop available right now. I don't recommend anything that's just "ok"...if you like turbo-props, this is MUST HAVE.

Those of you who remember my posts from way back know that I'm not a big Airbus guy - I love my Boeings!! But once in a while I will fly one, especially if it's HUGE. This is a LH A340-600 taking off out of Moscow (UUDD) headed for Frankfurt (EDDF).

Once again, here are some recycled shots from threads past, since I'm limited to playing FSX when I'm home from college (OTOH, I'm doing the real thing now, so I can't complain too much!):

I really like this bird! The FMC is great, and it has a "feel" very similar to a classic 737. And Granite, since you're a big turboprop guy...check out the Flight1 B200 Super King Air. It's modeled after a B200 with the Blackhawk XP52 upgrade (PT6A-52 with a 275 hp increase over the -42 engine) and the Garmin G1000 cockpit. Yeah, it's expensive - but WOW...it's the most realistic King Air I've ever seen!

Hi Batman

Will check the Super King Air out. Maybe a little too small for my liking though

Love the 146, sounds are great especially when applying flaps and that wind noise, really feel you are hitting the air

These screenshots are making me want to invest in a laptop and get back into FSX or P3D and get into simming again. Sold off my computer when I moved from the US to Australia, and I am sure that my company would not like me installing a game on my work laptop.

I took quite a hiatus from simming...I'm really enjoying getting back into it. We're at the point now where you can basically fly whatever you want. The only thing we're missing is a really good corporate jet. I believe it was Wilco that released a Falcon 7X, but I've read that it isn't that great. Someone needs to step up and make a PMDG quality corporate jet and then my flight sim life will be complete.

Go get yourself a new laptop!!

A new computer along with some nice new scenery, aircraft and I am happy again.
Seems to be working the way I want it, frames rates are good.

I don't think I've contributed anything to a screenshot topic in ages, FSX started to run sluggishly. But here are a few:

http://reheatimages.smugmug.com/photos/i-JxCLv4P/0/L/i-JxCLv4P-L.jpg
http://reheatimages.smugmug.com/photos/i-RfFQxzB/0/L/i-RfFQxzB-L.jpg
http://reheatimages.smugmug.com/photos/i-9vD6bfJ/0/L/i-9vD6bfJ-L.jpg

Last one VP-CAL, painted it myself because I wanted a biz-jet B777-200LR.

I don't get a lot of time to play around with FSX - tend to do more mucking around with these:

http://reheatimages.smugmug.com/photos/i-sLvKJbp/0/L/i-sLvKJbp-L.jpg (Giant TCR SL1)
http://reheatimages.smugmug.com/photos/i-MgSj44K/0/L/i-MgSj44K-L.jpg (Specialized Langster Pro - track bike)
http://reheatimages.smugmug.com/photos/i-nKBVt3S/0/L/i-nKBVt3S-L.jpg (Cervelo P5-6, with P5-3 fork UCI TT version)

The Cervelo frame is ex Team Garmin-Sharp and brand new, never used. So I built it up with parts I had and the rest I purchased.

Hi

Like Cpd I started to find FSX getting very sluggish. I had many add-ons and that was not helping.

New PC, fresh install and only adding items I know I will use has helped a lot, especially load times, just seconds now

I haven't uploaded it anywhere. Perhaps I could use dropbox or something like that. Avsim might have one already done.

Quoting Granite (Reply 30):

I don't have enough time usually, I eat, ride a bike, sleep and repeat, usually around 15-20 hours per week, along with official duties. I think when I did that one I was injured. But if you've got an idea for one, I might get tempted to give it a go.

Today I did a short hop from Doha to FlyTampa's Dubai. Aircraft was a Project Airbus A321 in QR colors. By the time I reached DXB it was dusk, so the scenes were beautiful! Best of all I had FPS in the 30s on approach.

Yes! I had FS2002 (home, not work!) and posted here, but I no longer have the screenshots and the hosting to the thread no longer works either. IMHO they were pretty great! I am due for a new laptop, I may have to think about FS.. I just need more time in my life... sigh. One for the future maybe..

cpd (Concorde) & Ytraveller (Qatar).. to me.. spectacular screenshots here!

Frankfurt (EDDF).

Which scenery is that?

I'll do some flying later this week, and post a few shots.

That would be Aerosoft Mega Airport Frankfurt. I believe that it's a two-for-one deal, FS9 and FSX (it's been a while since I bought it). Very nice scenery though!!

Great shots! I especially love the wing view one, it looks so realistic. May I ask what 777 model that is?

Also why are so many people posting old screenshots?   Let's see some new ones! I took a look at that 2009 thread and it looks so much more lively. Unfortunately I'd just started simming back then and knew nothing about A.net...

Anyways, I'll be flying somewhere tomorrow (probably to KLAS) and will be sure to post some pics.

Thanks! What you see in the upper screeshots is the PMDG 777, below a Posky/PSS combination. Glad to be using FSX now.

Very nice. OSL is among my favorite destinations, as are quite a few other airports in Norway.

More AC flying, though this time back in North America... YYZ-YFC on the DHC-8-400 as 'Jazz 8956'.

My screenshot mojo isn't great, but I don't mind painting things:

http://reheatimages.smugmug.com/photos/i-V6qLnjF/0/O/i-V6qLnjF.jpg

I was inspired a bit by VH-XZP, the Qantas retro jet that honours James Strong and his famously (or infamously) colourful bow ties. Only I chose something a bit different, remember the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane? I don't, but I've seen photos of the B747 with the logos on it.

I spent about 3 hours drawing the old Qantas Australia logos, and the winged kangaroo I'd already drawn ages ago, so I reused it. And the Commonwealth Games logo was very simple to draw. I'm not sure how to make the section of the nose under the flightdeck windows black, and I wasn't sure how to go about doing a polished metal finish for the lower part of the plane, so I left it standard grey.

Just asking on how you make your FSX so realistic ? I have FSX and it isn't anywhere near to what yours looks like.

Various forms of add-on planes, ground add-ons, weather/sky add-ons.

Look up, ORBX, GTX, UTX, Active sky... for environment improvements.
