Today's equivalent of the Canon 350D?

I haven't owned a DSLR since I had the 350D and the 100-400L . I see the lens has really shot up in price to over £2k.

Can someone please tell me what camera would be best to replace my old Canon?

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps used Canon 5D Mark 2 or Mark 3 in good condition will be the best option if you want high ISO, better autofocusing and overall better performance.
If you do not need a full frame then you may choose any modern beginner Canon DSLR which will be better than 350D.

Really enjoyed my 80D while I had it. 6dMk2 now.

The XXD or XD are more high-end than the XXXD or XXXXD. If you want to push ISO and have a (semi-)pro camera, go for one in the XD series. The XXD are a step below that, but still very fine cameras and probably good value/quality. Entry level cameras I think are now XXXD or XXXXD models. It all depends on your budget and what kind of photos you plan to take.

That's definitely the right answer.

The current equivalent of a 350D would be the 800D. It will be quite an improvement already, as Yerbol said any current DSLR will be an upgrade.
After that...it depends (as Kas said before)....

Thanks. I guess it comes down to budget. I hadn't expected the 100-400L to jump in price so much. I think I got my first one for just over £1k. So I reckon £500 max for a camera would be the most I could afford.

A quick look shows that the Canon 800D falls within your camera budget. If you don't need/want the 400mm per se, you could always consider a 70-200 or 75-300.

The 100-400L on sale now is the version II of this lens. It is a completely redesigned lens compared to the one you had previously.

Your best bet for purchasing one if you want it brand new is to wait for the next round of Canon cashback promotions.

Otherwise you could try and pick one up second hand - both the original 100-400 and the v II lens will be available second hand.
