I have an 8 hour layover and will be arriving at Terminal 1. Is there any good spots in terminal 1 to take pictures of planes, and can I access the viewing deck in Terminal 2 from Terminal 1?

Thank you
Doug

In terminal 1 I would recommend the area around gate A28 and the new Z pier (gates A50 - A69) if you are in the Schengen area. From there the only option to get to the viewing deck is to go landside and take the bus to terminal 2 as the skylink train is closed at the moment.

Be aware that the terrace on terminal 2 is outside the security area. So you would have to go out and later pass security and passport controls as well.
And it is not worth it. The spot is backlit the whole day and closes when the sun finally turns (at 6). Otherwise it has a large fence now with only 5 holes..
So unless one doesn't care about light and obstructions I wouldn't bother.

Otherwise as Miguel pointed out there are some good spots in Terminal one, mostly in the Schengen Area. If you go towards Gate A54 you will have an excellent view on taxiing and departing airplanes that is unfortunately backlit until 6pm. From that time on you can make decent shots though at this time of the year until the sun comes down.
