Basically the more megapixels your camera has, the greater the pixel density, meaning the lens has to work harder to get the best out of the sensor. In theory, when using the same lens, you will lose sharpness with the 7DII compared to the 7DI; but in reality the extra detail generated by the II's sensor sort of cancels out the ill-effects. On a per-pixel level the lower megapixel camera will typically out-perform the higher megapixel example.
