MUC Spotting

Thu Jul 25, 2019 11:33 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm gonna be going through Munich in early September and have an 8 hour layover. I'm debating on spending it in the city (never been) and perhaps spending a couple of hours spotting. I would appreciate any information local spotters have on the easiest locations to get to from the airport without a car, as well as lens requirements. Realistically I don't want to lug anything longer than a 200mm around with me.

Thanks,

-Mikhail

I'm pretty sure there's a spotting 'pyramid' and small museum within walking distance of the terminal that offer very close views of a taxiway. A Google search should reveal more I imagine.

I am not a local, but I can share my experience from a previous trip. The Besucherhűgel (pyramide) is easy to reach without car. Take train one stop or even walk. For runway action I am afraid a 200 lens will be a bit distant, but sufficient for the apron area in front. There are some places along the runways that sould be easy to find when leaving the terminal, but I have never tried them myself. As said before, an internet search should guide you. Good luck!

This really helped me when I was there two years ago. Good luck. Stefan
