Received An Email From Emirates

Wed Sep 04, 2019 3:00 am

Hi guys,

This morning I received an email from EK requesting if they could use my photo on their Facebook page. Just want to make sure, this doesn't warrant any monetary compensation right? I don't think it does, but I just want to confirm as I've never recieved such an email before

I'd let them use it, they probably have many images they can choose from and they might otherwise just skip to the next one. The facebook page doesn't warrant anything much more than a standard web sized image.

I would let them use it as long as they credit the photographer (you).

Well you can ask for a compensation and some experts will say you should... but as cpd noted they have many images to choose from and likely they will just take another one then. Most people will happily let them use it for free.

I did let them use one of mine, because then why not. They will credit you and your shot gets shown to quite an audience, not bad IMO.

Same here, they approached me previously and asked for a photo to use on Facebook. There's no way I was going to get anything back in return so I just let them use it with credit.

I have given permission to airliners multiple times now and never asked for compensation. I don`t think there`s a chance of getting something in return and for me it was enough to get the exposure and views. Felt really rewarding to get the attention for my photos.

The few times airlines and leasing companies have asked to use my images, I have quoted them a fee and surprisingly, they have paid. They typically have budgets for it and if requested will likely compensate. In one case, a major airline used an image without my permission. When I contacted them about it, they apologized and compensated me for it. FWIW, that's been my experience.
