Does correct info no longer matter?

Wed Oct 02, 2019 6:36 pm

I've seen quite a few new images added with incorrect information, including screener uploads. If the standard can't be enforced evenly, perhaps it is time to do away with info and/or category rejections?

You're preaching to the choir here. Unfortunately not everyone is diligent when it comes to info. And yes, sadly this concerns screeners as well. I've said it many times before already, but often it falls on deaf ears or the same people.

The editors (I try as well) often make rounds for info and correct when needed. If you have examples of poor info, then action can be taken more thoroughly. Especially when it concerns repeat offenders (which includes screeners).

Here is one which really perplexes me as to why it was added. There are no titles on this whatsoever. No registration no airline. Yet it is titled at Emirates and its registration. It was even on the front page too. How can this get by.

Maybe fast track re-uploads from info rejects to they don't have to wait two weeks? Just a thought.

I sometimes do that yes, but it's not standard procedure.

8 months ago already? Would've been nice to hear that earlier/have a correction submitted to be honest. It more than likely involve a screening bug, where suddenly a photo disappears from a batch while in screening/after submitting the screening results. All results of that batch then get shifted to the next photo, which in turn causes a lot of incorrect add/rejections and wrong info/photo combinations. Fixed now.

It doesn't look like it was involved in a bug. I can't see whether those fields were filled in at first, but it's fixed now.

Not really needed, as typically most of these shots are prio uploads anyway.

Kas - Thank you for taking the time to reply. It does not go unnoticed that you (and Jehan) are the only active screeners in the forums.

It is a sad state that the screeners who are entrusted with maintaining the standards are unable, or unwilling, to follow the guidelines needed to have an image accepted. To me these are easy issues to fix and would go a long way to creating a consistent screening experience for everyone.

I wasn’t aware it was hard to submit a correction. Just easier to come here and complain I guess

It's also a sad state when screeners get called out in the public forum such as this. I know you have the means to e-mail the team instead. Not sure what is gained by posting this type of stuff in the forum. Someone once said "it's volunteers who keep the site running, you might want to do it in a place where it isn't public." How easy we forget .

And let’s not forget, screeners are volunteers who work day jobs and give up there free time to help make this site run. I’m not sure if calling them out in a public forum is the most effective way to communicate and hope they stick around.

Classic. Attack the messenger and ignore the real issue.

If the photos were screened correctly, and more importantly, consistently, this would be a non issue. Thus, my original question.

Also, important to keep in mind, the content creators are volunteers too.

No one is attacking the messenger. It's about how the messenger went to get the message across.

Like Kas mentioned. Everyone was made aware of their mistakes. As much as we think we're prefect, we are not, and mistakes will be made.

I'm a content creator as well, and I volunteer my time as well, as a creator and a screener, for a hobby I enjoy. In the end of the day it's a hobby.

All sides have valid arguments. But considering the history between all of you (SEA/PDX locals), I strongly suggest we take this off-forum in future cases. You all have my A.net E-mail and you can reach me there should you have an issue with the screening process.
