Abuse of the Priority Uploading privilege

Thu Dec 19, 2019 6:10 pm

I inquired about this in private, but was told that the screeners rely on information from the uploader; so I am creating this thread.

At what point is an aircraft a priority upload? Certainly not a USAF B-52 arriving at a USAF base that does heavy maintenance. Are we at the point where, if an airliner shows up at an airport, and that airline/airport combo is not in the database, the image(s) are eligible for Priority Screening? I've asked this question of the HS before, and been told No, that does not meet the requirement. yet this photog is having several images added, in my opinion, out of order, which makes the rest of us wait longer.

Why?

Hi Royal,

We do rely on the info from the uploader to determine whether something is priority. We don't blindly assume things, but when something is plausible, we may give a benefit of the doubt.

I agree that that wasn't really a priority photo. However, the fact that that is a USAF m/x base is something most screeners (incl. myself) would not know unless the uploader writes that in the caption/comment to screener field. The same way I wouldn't expect you to know what we do at my local for example.

No. It would have to meet other priority criteria to qualify. This is also clearly stated in the priority guidelines ("A first visit of a specific aircraft of airline X to Airport Y does not qualify for priority screening.")

I understand that thought and out of order is technically correct, but in the worst case scenario it delays someone screening the main queue by 10 seconds (if only a prio screener is screening at that moment). If non-prio screeners are screening, there is no additional delay in the main queue.

I've asked the screener in question if he remembers what the uploader wrote.

Ahhh...wow! I get my own Royal Scott King thread!

First off, thanks for publically attempting to assasinate my character and hiding it under the guise of " I inquired about this in private, but was told that the screeners rely on information from the uploader; so I am creating this thread." That's truly great stuff right there. You couldn't even reach out to me, the person behind the photos, and ask me directly? Why not?

Let's start with the picture you so graciously shared a thumbnail of.

Q: Sporting event charters (e.g. playoff jets)?
A: Yes.

Image

Atlas Air does not provide regularly schedule 767-300 passenger (or even cargo) service into Dallas Love Field. This aircraft was here, in fact, for a sporting event charter.

So there's that put to bed.

The B-52 was not uploaded as an "unusual" visitor. It was uploaded due to it having new changes to the aircraft since it was last photographed, such as decals. Military aircraft are changing constantly between units, colors, and the like. That is a nice assumption that you made though. It would be like me assuming that you use questionable methods to get your photos voted Photographer's Choice almost daily, but we all know that's not the case. (Side note, that's a nice shot of the DO328 jet on the front page right now. Congrats on another PC.)

I have had numerous photos of mine deprioritized. Some I can see why, others I disagreed with, but I never fought back as I respect what the screeners are putting in many hours of voluteer work to make this well-respected website go. To suggest that I am abusing the system is incredibly rude, and makes you look like you have no life other than constantly monitoring other people's photos. And sadly, it's starting to look like that's exactly what you do all day every day, judging by the many threads you have started about other people and your "concerns."

At the time of this post, I have 129 photos in the database. As you've brought up two of them, lets get the ball rolling. Let's start dissecting the other 127 photos that upset you and throw more pathetic accusations in public so you can get your fix you desire. "This photog" is more than game to talk about them.

Have a nice day!

What? Were you forced to wait longer after uploading another generic side on shot of a new reg at PAE? Perhaps you're waiting for another upload of a generic biz jet on the ramp that will get PC'd like this lovely Citation?

I dare say, do your homework before throwing accusations about what is and isn't a priority upload prior to calling out an individual. I legitimately enjoy your work, you take sharp images, but don't be get upset and cry wolf over photos that you did not apparently research enough. Take it up with the individual respectfully in private rather than blasting them here in the public forum. Just my .02

And he apparently thinks people will just buy that they are legitimate when they clearly are not.

I was not aware that Sports Charters were eligible for Priority Screening, thank you for sharing that. With regards to the B-52, all I see is a small sticker, as you mentioned mil jets change all the time, I did not think such a change was eligible (still don't).

But, all is not lost. I see your username is "PDX." Now I get your response. Which is of course why Brandon replied (only time he ever replies is to say something negative to me in this forum). Also, if you think someone citing something you've done as an example is "assassinating your character" you've got a long hard road ahead of you. As for asking you, I don't even know who you are, and the comments of your upload were generic, so...

Don't let all that hate burn you up.

Dude, you stalk people and create Instagram accounts just to harass people that work @ PDX, and you want to call me out. Seriously, do you want to go there? You should ask your friends to get this thread closed before I post the screenshots. Remember what I told you after you talked shit about my family on Facebook. My wife, my kids.

You're not clever Alex, in fact quite the opposite. I don't think anyone who is paying attention thinks that I vote my own images for PC. I'm on record as asking to have them made ineligible. But, I bet someone who doesn't like me would sure like people to think that's what I am doing. It's called motive...

See you soon.

Instagram? I have no idea what you’re talking about. And if they showed the users who voted for pics, my username nor anyone I know would show up in any of them.

Apparently you don’t spend much time on here. I don’t comment often. But I don’t just reply when you make yourself look like a fool. Cause you Sir, made yourself look like a fool once again. Bravo!

In the future it might be smart before you’d start a thread going at something to make sure all your facts are correct. I find it quite funny you’re going at someone who is right when your facts are incorrect.

Glad you seem to understand now.

Let this be a lesson to not smear people publicly before doing research. Also, way to assume once again that because my username is KPDX that I must be in some conspiracy against you. I haven't lived in Oregon for almost a decade. Like you have established, I do not know you, and have nothing personal against you. Not until you randomly decided to smear my name in the mud over some incorrect assumptions of yours. The only reason I know who you are is because of the way you treat other photographers and the staggering amount of times you make the front page which, by the way, congratulations on another PC since I last responded to you earlier today. Just because I don't know you doesn't mean you can't click "contact photographer" and ask me directly vs wanting to make a scene, which is your MO.

Anyone that knows me personally knows that I am far from hateful, but there is no doubt you questioned my integrity over this. With your response, I see you do not recognize that or care, so you're wasting my time, and yours too. Hopefully you've learned from this thread, but you didn't from every other one in the past so that is a big jump.

Well this took a turn overnight. Since clarification was given on the main topic and you all managed to vent your thoughts/made this a personal mud slinging contest, I'm closing this one.
