Can be overcome by covering the area between the lens and glass.

In Sydney they had great little camera lens cutouts in the glass on a similar sort of observation deck. Worked a treat.

How, if one can't press the front of the lens against glass?

There are products like the Ultimate Lens Hood or Lens Skirt that are designed to do this.

Interesting. The next question is whether those are long enough to cover the distance to the glass.
I'd need to get over to SFO to answer that.

The height of the glass is about 10 - 12 feet. There is no way to avoid shooting thru the glass. The glass is very thick and was very clean when I was there. I was able to avoid reflections by putting the lens right on the glass and shielding it with my hand.

I always carry a polarizing filter. Turn until unwanted reflections disappear, shoot away.
Is just me, or is flying not as much fun anymore?
