Nikon D750 - what do you think

Fri Mar 20, 2020 10:22 am

I would appreciate your thoughts on this, please:

The D850 is very tempting, and very expensive. I was thinking about the D750 as an alternative, as the prices on used samples are quite attractive.
All my lenses are FX and the main camera now is a D500 (The Z7 was sold as I was very unhappy with it).

I know the D750 is not new technology, but is the autofocus fast enough for aviation? Another question would be if the quality actually surpasses the D500, especially in low-light?

Regards,
Rene

How about the D780, it would give you even less noise and a slightly better AF, but much better live view AF and video AF. For me it combines the best of the Z and D series into one body.

Thanks, I haven't read much about the D780 but that is an interesting alternative - perhaps a bit more expensive but we will se. Thank you for the input.

I recently upgraded from the D7200 to the D750. I'd definitely recommend it. If you have the cash though, the D780 might be a better option if you're after night photography.
I've attached a few pictures so you can see what the shots are like.

Thanks Daniel, for sharing your thoughts and experience with the D750. Nice shots by the way!

The D780 price is a little to much at the moment - actually a second hand D850 is about 400 USD cheaper in Denmark now.

Rene

D750 is a great camera, I got one. You better buy it instead of D780 and save for good bright glass, f1.4-2.8
With D750 + a bright good quality glass you will be ready for even night shots.
Cameras come and go, good glass will stay.
Just my two cents.

Thank you for your input yerbol, much appreciated.

It's been a busy time and I forgot to update this thread. Things took a turn for the better, as a pro photographer wanted to change from Nikon to Canon.
The result was a D850 for a third of the original price (Shuttercount 29.000 shots) - I could not miss that chance, so the D750 project is cancelled.
