Scanned Photo

Tue Mar 31, 2020 7:56 pm

Hello all.

I have several printed photos from Athens Ellinikon Airport LGAT/HEW from back 1996-2001. I can't find the negatives so I can only scan from the photos. I understand that quality will be an issue but can a normal scanner (not a professional one) give an adequate result for the photos to be accepted here?

In short, yes. I have a Canoscan 4400F (about EUR80) and have a bunch of scans (from prints, not negatives, although it will do negatives too) accepted here. It's the processing in Photoshop that's key as they come out of the scanner looking pretty bad (same with Negatives). You'll need to run them through NR software such as Neatimage then through your regular editing software to touch them up.

Thank you for your reply. I will buy a scanner (so I can digitize my memories which is the important part) and give it a shot. I know neatimage and I try to upload some photos here.

Hello !
Yes, we do accept scanned images from many photogrpahers as they are precious for the whole world. If you want to upload scanned photos please ensure to use modern editor (ps or somethins) to make it looks as normal as possible (for color and something else). We have specific screening crews who are expert in screening the Scanned Photos here in Vintage. As a result, make sure you enter correct date so that the photo can be in the Vintage Queue normally. If not, we will send it to our scanned screeners once we saw them, which might take longer time ; )
Hope that could be helpful for your problems.

Regards,
Harry
