lack of courtesy

Tue May 12, 2020 7:13 pm

Special shout-out to the two a**holes from Charlottesville, VA who stood in front of all the other photographers at BWI today for the An-124 arrival. Not only did you ignore the shouts but then you were belligerent and said you don't care about anyone else... way to go.

Did they show up after all the other photographers were in place?

They were there with everyone else and could plainly see us about 10 of us standing in a line. Several of us even asked them to move back which they ignored.

There is an unwritten rule, certainly at my local (MAN, UK): if you arrive before anyone else you can pick your spot; those arriving later will need to work around you. So if these guys arrived after you, you have a right to be annoyed. Likewise if they were originally stood with you but decided to get in your way by moving forward. If they arrived before you, however, you need to be earlier next time to stake your claim.

Like I say, that's the etiquette here so I imagine it's similar for you.

That is poor form. Have to agree with what Karl said as it's very much the same in Sydney there's no room for not respecting etiquette and others when spotting at a public place for all.

Well, I got an unsolicited apology from them... one sincere and the other not so much. Anyway, blood pressure is down now :)

At BWI we have unwritten rule of either going to the fence by the parking lot, standing in line along the treeline or going up the road to have over the fence shots.
If people in the midfield ignored all the courtesy calls, they are just plain a**wipes. And because of people like that, other spotters wont post about spotting places around their airports.
On the other hand it's hard to be surprised about those two from Charlottesville. Besides NRA rallies they barely see any people down there.
