Photo from postcard

Sat Nov 14, 2020 2:34 pm

While I really like this picture,

I doubt it belongs into this database as it is taken from a postcard: https://www.ricardo.ch/de/a/air-zaire-b ... 137650126/

And when reading the caption it seems obvious, the photographer does not hold the rights of this picture.

Hello

We do understand your point. That said look at the difference in quality between our upload and what you link. The image was rejected on first screen and the photographer asked if it was scan of a postcard or calendar. He said it is a scan of a slide he bought for his collection.

In response to community feedback such as this our screeners have again reached out to him for secondary confirmation about it being a postcard or like. The quality of what has been uploaded compared to all other copies we've seen do lead us to believe what the photographer has told us. He also has some details about delivery no one else would have if they only owned a postcard.

Please leave in the hands of the HS team who are looking into this for the community

Hello

Thanks for your patience. The photographer has replied and he does have an original slide. So we are fortunate he chose to upload and we know it is original. Not a postcard or anything else.

Possession of an original slide means you’re the copyright holder?

Interesting, anyone know what happened to the photo? The photo in the link is no longer available.

No, it doesn't. If you want to publish a photo not made by yourself, you need the permission of the photographer.
