Light Trail Stacks

Is stacking exposures (at least for light trails, if not other purposes) now allowed? A recently accepted photo with clear signs of stacking is leading me to ask. Last time this came up there was community support but a change was not approved.

Composite images including stacking are not permitted. If you can cite the image in question via a PM to headscreeners@airliners.net, we can look into it.

I did just that on 5/28 but hadn’t heard anything, hence this post.

I’d rather have a discussion about why this is still a rule, especially considering how well received the photo in question was.
