Airliner Photo Angles and Liveries

Hello - The site homepage has a great photo of a Continental 727-200 on landing at DCA. Got me wondering how the right photo angle, and livery (whether liked or not) really allow the aircraft and livery stand out nicely. With all the news in the civilian forum on the crash in San Diego, the Emirates 777 incident last week, covid, et.al., I wanted to start a thread on unique angles that make airliners and their brand liveries stand out.

Thoughts welcome!

Great idea! I have always thought the Super VC-10 to be an attractive airplane. In the last BOAC livery with the gold leaf titles and speedbird … it was spectacular.

Oh wow, classic livery, aircraft and angle! Timeless.

While I'm not crazy about the former Air France livery (but really like the new version today!), i like this angle of the Concorde:

I find that it is hard to determine the size of a 707 unless shot from above or below. People compare it to a 739 just because the fuselage length is similar. These photos show a nice comparison of the two aircraft.


The square footage of the 707 Intercontinental wing is larger than the DC-10 and L-1011 (or so I have read).

Fact-checking this statement is easy. Per Wikipedia, the wing area of DC-10 is 3550 sq ft, vs. 3050 sq ft. of the 707-300 series. So no, the square footage is not larger than the DC-10. 3456 sq ft on the L-1011 (non-500)
