All - Air Nikon was laid to rest 15 years ago on 29 January 2007. Many on a.net will remember Air Nikon (Mickey Bednar) as a photo screener and the first photographer on a.net with 9,999 photos in the database. Posthumously, A.net administrators located one additional photo they added to give Mickey 10,000 photos in the database. I know many have surpassed that total now but at the time it was a LOT of photos.
Mickey was a great friend to me both online and later in person. We did a bunch of road trips together and we even went to Alaska in 1999 to fly aboard Reeve Aleutian's only airworthy Lockheed Electra.
It was a sad day in early December 2006 when I got the phone call about Mickey's very unexpected passing. Yes, it took almost two months to lay Mickey to rest, but he is located in the Riverside National Cemetery near March ARB in Southern California. I'm happy I was able to attend that solemn ceremony and speak some kind words about Mickey to the attendees.
