Plane spotting with an iPhone?

Fri Sep 23, 2022 8:03 pm

Does anyone get good photos with newer iPhones?
Going to upgrade to the iPhone 13 and wondering if it’s worth it? I understand there are lots of factors at play but I’m just going to be a couple hundred feet away.

If you can, I thing you should go for the 14 pro or pro max as it has 48MP vs 12MP on the 13.

Agreed with xaaqb, 14 pro series is better and if that's too much then try to get a 13 pro model instead. Just don't buy the iPhone 14 or 14 max, those are the worst value iPhones in the market

I have one in the database which was shot with an older Samsung (S6):https://www.airliners.net/photo/Germany-Air-Force/Eurofighter-EF-2000-Typhoon-S/2733962?

So, if you can get close enough...

And one with an iPhone 12 Pro Max:

Best regards,

Didn’t know if I should start a new thread or add to this one.

Any plane spotting experience with the Moment 58mm telephoto lens? Phone is a 12 Pro. I wasn’t planning on buying another one until at least the iPhone 16 arrives.

Thanks in advance for your feedback :)

Hey guys,
I always use my iPhone to get a snap of significant aircraft I’m photographing as an insurance policy for my Nikon DSLR, just in case of camera/SD card failure which has happened before. I also tend to use my iPhone for photos inside the plane’s cabin when flying.
Plus, taking a snap on my iPhone allows me to immediately send it to other spotters/avgeeks for bragging rights and/or notification of something significant… I prefer not to upload from DSLR to phone - just snap and text!
Take care,
Bunumuring
