Inconsistent standard

Wed Oct 12, 2022 12:24 am

Just happened to see this photo in top 5
https://www.airliners.net/photo/China-E ... 41/7021949

No offense to the photographer, but to me, this is far from the standard:
  • clearly not leveled (CW rotation needed)
  • serious heat haze
  • blurry
  • low contrast

I know this is the first photo of this plane in the database. But this is way off the standard and shouldn't have been accepted imo. On the other hand, many of the photos I submitted were rejected due to some more nuance and subjective reasons (mostly soft/oversharpened). Just amazed how inconsistent the screening standards could be.

Hello B77L

Thanks for your feedback and there's no excuse other than mistakes sometimes happen.

Regards

The photo has been removed so I can't see it. From the thumbnail it needs some leveling can't tell the rest but whatever happened to rare photos easy to get accepted and common hard to get accepted? This whole disgruntled photographer playing Monday morning QB screener is getting old. Listening to the chattering class is as well. In addition why post this in an open forum and not email the screeners directly?

Drama and slagging the photog.

Yawn.

You telling me a photog can't bother to do 10 seconds of editing on a rare photo? It's ridiculous to have photos that can't even be leveled properly in the DB, rare or not. That's just lazy, and I don't know why A.net ever accepted them.

Sure, be lenient on sharpness, color, etc (the more subjective criteria), but seems to be even a rare photo can have basic editing applied (leveling, centering).
