Hey,

This pictures seems to be very good.
Why shouldn't they become accepted?

Wietse,

the composition of all shots are great, but most of them do have some minor "faults" that might cause a rejection.

#1: strange coloured sky, perhaps not sharp enough
#2: a little weak colours
#3: a little soft towards the rear, perhaps the contrast is a little high? (look at the tyres and above: they're just black)
#4: great!
#5: a little weak colours, strange appearance of the reg. (might be caused by JPG compression)

Good Luck!

Everybody, thanks for the criticism, it was just how I figured it.

I have one more question for you.

The following pics were rejected, for bad aesthetics, could you please tell me how I could improve them the next time I take the shot?

Thanks,

Wietse

Hey Wietse,

If you look to the wing on your right, you will see that a small part of the wing is not on your picture. That is the reason (I think).

Aestetics

I like this angle a lot. I recently started making most my pics at this angle. Try to crop differently, either with the whole plane + wings on it, or chop the wings off completely outside the engines and make the whole fuselage fill the frame. Chopping at the winglet looks a bit weird.

Ed

Where they scanned yeah?

If you look at the aer Lingus one, the wings and gap between wing and flaps is kind of jagged. I think a different dpi setting or a resize should take care of it. (But don't take my word for it, there is a reason I've converted to digital.  Smile )

The Air France and 747 shot both have a tip of the wing missing. They also have that jagged impression on the flaps and wings.

Anyway, apart from this, those pictures are very cool. It looks like a great spotting location.  Smile

Keep up your excellent work, and good luck.  Smile

Hey all, thanks for your advice.

Thomas, I am affraid I can't crop them with the wingtips on them, They're just not on the pic!
I automatically take pics where the most "busy part" (ie the fusalage) is in the center, If i'd taken them inculding the wing, they'd be out of balance (in my own eyes) Because then you would have the aircraft itself way too much to the right.

btw.
It IS a great spotting location, at 19R, sitting at the side of the canal, with the sun in your face (except when an aircraft comes offcourse) and drinking a nice cold coke.... hmmmmm Live doesn't get better than that.... Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I know what you mean about croping the wingtips. I have a couple of pictures where I made sure I didn't cut off the wing. Like the one in the link beneath. But as you can see the picture is out of balance.

http://www1.airpics.com/showimg.php?imgid=18269

You can also see the jagged impression it gets from the poor scanning too. (I hate my scanner.)  Smile

I'm looking forward to going back to rwy25 at Newcastle - Wolsington. The best spotter location i've ever been to.  Smile

Sorry about the big pic. Big grin
