Desert Airfield Info?

Thu Aug 22, 2002 11:30 pm

Hi all,
I am planning a future R.T.W. trip next year, and want to make a stop at a desert airfield in the U.S. to get some shots of aircraft of yesteryear.

I wanted to know if anyone could help with some info.

1) A list of deserts which are easily accessible by either car or plane.( if anyone has airport codes for them too - that would be great.)
2) Features of the particular storage area? ie: what types of aircraft to see.
3) Any relevant costs involved to get permission to go around and take photos?
4) Any other transport issues to get to and from the desert airfields?
5) The best time of year to visit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
