MAN On Wednesday

Tue Mar 11, 2003 5:32 am

Anybody going to MAN on Wednesday for the Man Utd V Basle charters?
Looks like a good day aircraft wise and the weather doesn't look bad either!

Also, where can you get info on predicted wind direction, anyone have a clue about the chance of the 06's being in use? That would be perfect, good weather, nice aircraft and (up till 12) landings on 06R!

I am going down  Smile

It wont really matter about the runway direction as the spotting area at the end of 06L is the only decent place to got ATM. Taxiway Juliette from J1 - J4 is closed so the pub isnt really an option.

As for the winds, usually southerly winds mean 06 and northernly mean 24  Smile

Current forecast is Northerly winds in the morning and NNE in the afternoon.

Runway 06 is positioned facing into ENE), USA - Alaska">ENE), USA - Alaska">ENE), USA - Alaska">ENE winds (60 degrees), so there is a good chance the 06s will be in use!!!!

Another place to look at CURRENT conditions is here
http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/EGCC.html
This will give you accurate weather conditions before you set off, and an indication as to which runways are in use. Alternatively, I look up into the sky, and if there are planes doing 90 degree turns over my house, then the 06s are in use.

Craig.

I'll be there, southside all day if they are using 06 for landing. 400mm lens works good there.

Thats a good thing as ATM, with the taxiway refurbishment, its the only place you can get close and it also means that in the afternoon ALL traffic will pass DIRECTLY infront of the spotting area :P Big grin

Great stuff, I'll also be over by the southside all day.Be at the 06R end in the morning and the 24L end between 12 and 1500, if the 06's are used.

Touch wood the weathers looking good, so it should be a good day.

yeah ill b there after 4ish cos i got crappy college to go to first, (they wouldnt understand if i took the day off cos a few special planes r coming in, they never do) so ill have to get the bus after 4 and b in EGCC hopefully to see something parked up or boarding, i know most the flights r leaving at 3 in the morning, lol, im not staying up that late lol.
ill b up on top on level 13 as usual if ne1 wants to see me, u cant miss me, ill be to the right of the shop, the little incline where the fence is.
Its not the fall that kills u, its the sudden stop at the end..
