A File Size Question.

Tonight I uploaded several pictures. All were 1024X768 and .jpg files.

The last one was rejected because of filesize. Here is the text of the message, copied and pasted:

Too large photo
The file you uploaded was too large, it was 1024 x 768 pixels and had a filesize of 1050239 bytes. Try to keep your photos smaller than 1600 x 1600 pixels and limit filesize to 1MB (1048576 bytes).

Around 1200 pixels in width is the ideal. If you keep it that size your photo will not be resized and will be uploaded with full quality.

Any suggestions here. The file is identical in every respect to all the others that uploaded okay. It is identical to other pictures I have up in the database. More importantly, it is of smaller dimension than what they suggest.

Should I select a higher compression rate? Will that make it lossier? Is this a common problem with pictures of this (fairly standard) dimension? If 1024X768 jaypegs are borderline perhaps they could re-think the issue.

I'd be grateful for some guidance here.

Limit is 1Mb in filesize, your is 1048576 so it was automatically rejected. You must compress it a little more.

Just a followup. I solved my own problem by changing it from 200 to 72dpi and increasing the compression slightly. Should have done that in the first place, I guess. Didn't seem to lose anything.

muito obrigado Luis. It is compressed.
