Maersk Air New Livery

Fri Feb 20, 2004 2:17 am

Guys

Maersk Air has reviled its new livery today at Copenhagen. Very Very smart.

The aircraft flew from NWI, Did anyone managed to photograph it on departure?

I have a real nice shot in the upload queue!

WOW, pretty nice one! I will probably see them in Tallinn one day too, Maersk 737s are inspected in Estonia.

Hi all

I'll go against the flow.......while it's a great picture Colin (ignoring the sensor spot)......a BIG mistake in my opinion.

The two tone blue scheme has been around for decades and instantly recongisable. This is not nice.

Nah, I think its rather a nice c/s, but the white nose should have had its design carried through. The blue/black stripes should have continued all the way to the nose with a blue one covering the front.

Just to be honest, I don't really like the new colours of Maersk Air.
I liked the old livery much better. Probably i will get used to it once but I think that will take a while.

I like it better than the old one. A bit too much white still, but not bad...
The old livery made the planes look like their sea-containers...

Hey Guys

Thanks for comments. Sorry about dust spot! oops. Missed the dust spot yes but not the end of the world. Working 50 hours this week, moving house and somehow managing to get a few photos uploaded in the breaks.

Kinda funny story I waited for a hour or so under -4C (typical Denmark) then as it approached it did so on the Left runway which was far far away and into the sun. How mad was I as I was on foot. A quick dash to the airport for a few photos off home to upload and then pack boxes, visit family and go shopping all on 1 day off.

Peter I thought I emailed the screeners. Funny huh.

Never mind, glad you all liked it and I will report here where it is going to visit next asap so you all get the chance to see it.

Surprised at this old-school look -very nice. Reminds me of Conair or Trans European. Maersk old colors were very distinctive and attractive though.

I wonder why the colorful distinctive liveries get changed while the ones that really need more color & more appealing designs stay the same? Air Canada, Lufthansa, and a million others. This livery change should have been saved for one of those

My two cents:

Great livery. It does have an old style feeling to it...Imaginative.

Conair? How the heck can this scheme remind you of Conair?  Laugh out loud

I can tell a difference  Wink/being sarcastic - or am I justbeing picky, seeing that I grew up onboard Conairs A300's & A320's (hey, I was even at the delivery ceremony at CPH, when the first A320 was delivered - the overhead screens were sooo cool  Big thumbs up)

hmm the colors are about the same, basic design similar? It just reminded me of it. But hey you are cool you were at the delivery ceremony, nice. Out of the top of my head I forgot the shades of blues were inverted in Conair, forgive me  Laugh out loud If this was so outrageous to you.. well I'm sorry, uhum < coughs > ..(geek)

For those close to NWI or in the UK.. OY-MRI will depart NWI on 23rd Feb around 1800Z to Copenhagen in the new colours. The second machine to have the new paint.

MIAMIx707,
no problem - I just think that the father of charter airlines (in Denmark anyway), deserves a little more credit than the brain-child of some major Danish shipping corporation - at least Conair's creator, Simon Spies, was that more fun than Maersk McKinney-Möller. In fact, they've even made a musical about him (which I'll be seing with my mom who worked for Spies, the company that owned Conair, and some of her former colleagues).

Which reminds me, gotta remember to do a 20th anniversary thread in April, since he died in 1984.

CPH truth is I've never seen either of those airlines, but I would love to photograph them, they are both beautiful liveries. Conair is not around anymore though. is it?

The Conair birds are currently in their 4th or 5th scheme since the early 90's, so I wouldn't count on nailing one in the original scheme  Laugh out loud

First they were Conair

Then they merged with Scanair and became Premiar (in a VERY basic scheme).

Then Premiair's mother company Spies were bought by Airtours, and thus Premiair adopted the Airtours livery

And finally, Airtours became MyTravel.
