While your talking with this guy, can you have him send all that money my dead relatives left to me at the barristers office? They keep sending me emails about how they would love to send me the 15 million dollars if I give them 5 million of it for their effort.

I'm not sure, but I would not call that number. There are scams out there that will charge LARGE sums to your number just for calling it. And I doubt they could make a suitable poster from a postcard sized print.

Sounds 'fishy' to me. Good luck if you decide to 'bite'. Let us know how it works out.

I don't do business with people who don't know how to work the "shift" key.

Spelling words wrong in a business email turns me off, too.

I don't trust it, personally.

If it came from an american business, then yes I would be turned off, but since it's africa, I'd let them go on that.

But still like Jeff and Phil have said, this whole thing looks pretty shady. I would stop right at "Send us the photo then we'll pay you."

And all at once the crowd begins to sing: Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same

Ok, I am not going to respond to this one. It did reek or "My uncle died and left 400,000,000 dollars to you" crap.

Thanks all.

This has got scam written all over it. The next email will probably ask for your bank account 'cos they want to send you $5K as a good faith deposit and they want you to keep $3K and send the rest back. I think we all know how that story ends....

Hit the nail right on the head, guys.

-Lack of capital letters... not exactly impressionable

-They don't give the name of the "very small graphic design studio & printing consultancy"

Eh, I won't go on. It's a scam in my mind. Jeff, I must have recieved that very email a hundred times. So funny...  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

There is a fine line between a picture and a photo. The latter seems to be disappearing.

I'd offer them a bargain deal of $1000 US and they can do what they like with your picture.

Hell, I'm in the wrong business - I didn't know you could generate $80,000 a year from selling a single poster  Smile

Respond to the email and tell them you want to get $2000 so they can do whatever they want with that photo  Smile

Wait and see their response, although I think they may never write back.
Oh, and asking for the companies name would be a good idea

I don't think Zimbabwe has gotten its first computers in yet... you might want to wait a decade or so for them to get the digital camera and the photo printer...

Hey guys, I just got this email also!

I think jeff hit it on the head: a "poster" sized print from a "postcard" is, well, impossible. Scam.

And yes I know its Africa, but come one...they gotta be able to translate properly! Any poorly worded email like that is a scam.

Just out of curiosity, I replied and counter offered a bargain - unlimited use of the requested pic (and many others on his list) for a one-time payment of $500 each (with $100 for each image before delivery).

To my surprise I got an email today agreeing to my terms! In fact, I actually believed it for a moment. Then I read the reply again, this time with brain engaged. The sting is of course, this bit:

" if these terms are agreeable to you then you may send me your bank
account details & your full name & physical address so i can send you the
initial 250 usd

It is of course a variation of the old Nigerian scam - just baiting to get those banking details.

The 2 interesting things are that

1 - we are a big enough group to warrant a tailor-made scam  Smile

2 - I guess we are all susceptible to scams if the words seem relevant and are the ones you WANT to read - I confess that for a couple of minutes I thought "perhaps there is something in this". The internet is a dangerous place, and we all have our unguarded moments!

I couldn't resist, I've sent Mr Soldmyman Muddafarka the following e-mail....

Dear Mr Mahaka,

I really would like to be part of this wonderful money making excercise as I feel my photos are better than all the others at For the privilege I would like to enrol you as my exclusive image handler and am prepared to donate to you $5000USD per month to cover your costs and to be honest find your initial offer of 5% of revenues raised embarassing, please I would only ask you provide me with 0.01% as you are obviously putting an awful lot more work into this than I am.

In return I would expect market domination with every possible magazine, aircraft manufacturer and camera manufacturer begging for our business and co-operation. I am sure with your enourmous resources and talents in securing the business of large multi-national companies will mutually benefit us for many years to come.

Could you please provide your banking details as soon as possible so we can start our business venture rolling.

I look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with you laundering money from the dumb and dopey worldwide! I look forward to spending an enjoyable retirement with you somewhere in Nigeria.

With my most personal regards,
Humbah Boombah

Now, anyone care to bet on me getting a reply?
