LHR - 30/08/04 Anything Interesting Inbound?

Mon Aug 30, 2004 2:19 am

Hi there guys,

Quite tempted to pop up to LHR for a few hours tomorrow, just wanted to know if anything was due in that could of be of interest. Also what runway ops are we most likely to see in the a.m.

The weather looks good for once! Just as well make the most of the last bank holiday in the year.

I look forward to any responses,

Cheers all,

Justin Wood  Big thumbs up

As Xmas day falls on a Saturday in 2004 we have 1 extra Bank Holidays this year, the Monday and Tuesday after the Xmas weekend are both Bank Holidays!

This B/Hol we have Wanula Dreaming arriving in the early hours, plus ZS-SNE an A340-600 of South African.

The red Qantas B747 is departing to Athens and returning in the afternoon!
Looks like some other interesting stuff coming from Athens too (Biz A319)

Have a great day,

Jon

Landing 27L, departing 27R until 15:00BST, then the swap over, so not the best for getting shots of the Qantas departing. She'll be very high over the 09L field....

Oh  Sad

The day you want them to be using 27L in the a.m. for take off as well!

The prospect of seeing this bird is good enough to go anyway!  Big thumbs up

Damn!

Do you think there will be any chance of LHR being on double runway op's at that time of the morning?

I really need this aircraft.

There's a chance they could allow the Qantas to depart the southerly runway as it's T4 parked, particularly as it's a Bank Holiday with slightly less arrivals.

Plus there's a slight chance they may let it land on the southerly runway, traffic permitting, for T4.....

I'll hopefully be there from about 11am onwards if any of you want to say hi, can't miss me with my little red stool I bring lol.

Only seen Wunala Dreaming twice, once was a few weeks ago it was being tugged on the other side of 27L so I got a pretty awful photo....and the other it just happened to fly over my house last weekend  Big grin

Can't wait to get it on camera, should be good.

Does anyone know when "Wunala Dreaming" will be going back out of LHR again today? I'm guessing it would either go out 3 or 4 hours after arriving back at LHR at 16:20...or would be towed across to the BA maintenance hangers for a flight later on in the evening or tomorrow?

VH-OEJ should be going home tonight around 2230 so it may not be towed back to the Hangars but may stay on TERMINAL-4 once it gets back in!

Well i was down the row today (14-30 to 19.20) but could not make out any of you guys. I was the mad one standing in the roundabout with the England coat on.

Update for anyone that did not go was ....

1) Wunala dreaming did arrive BUT at the same time the biggest darkest cloud of the day also arrived. Killed any photo's stone dead !!!!

2) The RAM 767 did arrive and it was sunny aswell  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

3) The China Eastern also arrived but 30 min late at 19.15 so the light was realy starting to die..... Did manage to get a couple of good shots though  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

4) Also of note were a A319 corporate which was new to me and a more common BBJ (A6-BAS)....

Not a bad day but pretty sick the QF photo went pear shaped !!!

Hi everyone!

Me and Airplanepics did try to find everyone who said they were coming, but never managed to!  Sad

Did you happen to see two guys, one with white T-shirt and jeans, one with a cap on and dark blue jeans and one with a 100-400 round is neck?!  Laugh out loud That was us...

We kept hanging around people thinking it was you! Haha... We think we bumped into "Red-Phoenix AirPics" at the 27R crossing.

Also, Alex Gill, we saw you on the 27R threshold as we flew past on a bus, we got off at the next stop to find you had vanished!!!??

Wanula (Morning) turned out good for me! N775UA made an appearance too! Great day all in all!

Cheers,

Simon from your photo i gather you were northside side. Therefore i gather thats why i did not see you. I was on the roundabout near the huts/hangers. When they were on 27L I did visit Myrtle but only for about an hour. As the smell of Dog sh#t had started to overpower me !!!!

Justin. No i did not see you. Mind you there were quite a few people there. Though i did keep an eye out for the standard A.Net uniform of Canon L Glass  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Pretty good day in all apart from my CF card going up the wall. (see other thread) if you can help !!!

Thanks Simon

Hi I think I saw most of you but I was floating about most of the day. I was the Big guy with the Concorde Base Ball cap on near 27 right threshold later on near the time of the China Easter arrival.

Also there are two more A340-600 flights due this week one tomorrow Tuesday and another on Thursday so its a busy week then apparently they will go back to A340-300s again Bummer!

Some people came and stood right infront of me for the Wunala pic, and also that police van turned up searching them!! And the cloud!! Three awful conditions for a photo I went there especially for!! Glad I saw it anyway though. Some of you probably saw me, I was the guy in the white t-shirt with the cool fold up blue chair lol.
