EF 10-22mm Lens Your Experience!

Thu Oct 13, 2005 8:30 am

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this lens. If so how is it? Is it also good for indoor photography and maybe for wing/cabin/cockpit shots?

Hope someone can point me out the pros and con's!

cheers

Well from my experience it is excellent.
Every bit as sharp, contrasty and clear as my 17-40L.

Its build is not as solid and it is quite a bit lighter and on a 20D its a 16-35 or so.
Its a fair bit more expensive than other standard EF glass but that is due to its construction which i believe is quite similar to L in terms of glass quality.

I think you can tell from these which are both taken with it thats it is excellent quality in every respect and the ideal solution for ultrawide for those with 1.6 crop bodies.
Only disadvantage is the mount so it doesn't fit on my new 1Dmk2n.
Expensive but excellent quality.

I have heard that there are problems using a flash with it....it is so wide that the flash will no extend into the bottom of the frame?

I've used this lens a few times and have nothing but good things to say about it. The sharpness of the lens boarders on L Quality ... but so does the price  Wink

It's top priority on my list of next Lens to purchase. (I've only borrowed it from friends until now)

Thanks guys,

indeed bit expensive but hey, we have an expensive hobby!

Is it a light lens? And when at 10mm (1.6x since i have 300D) is there a bit curvature to the photo?

cheers

If you wanna go wide, I mean as wide as 16mm and you are a Canon guy, there are probably not a lot of options. The lens is certainly not a L lens, but still good enough. Nice and sharp but so is the price. If you have about 800 USD / 750 EUR to spare, go for it.
