Photography At AMS Terminals?

Tue Oct 18, 2005 5:23 pm

I'll be going through AMS next week. My flight is KL 605 that leaves at 11:30 am. I'll be staying at Sheraton hotel which I believe is connected to the airport terminal.

I'm wondering if there'll be any locations between the hotel and the terminal buildings where I can take some photos in the morning before my flight.

Thanks in advance!

There is a visitor deck on top of the terminal (don't know what time it opens). When you walk from your hotel thru the 'bridge' to the terminal, decend down the escalators, and keep on walking to the left (towards the burgerking). Walk past the burgerking, towards the stairs straight ahead, these will lead you to the visitor deck.

The Panorama terrace offers a fantastic view of the aircraft and the platforms. If you want to take the weight off your feet, why not go to one of the Panorama restaurants and enjoy this fascinating spectacle. You can reach the restaurants by following the route between Arrivals 1 and 2 and via Arrivals 3.

Opening hours:

Winter period (from the last Sunday in October) from 09.00 hours to 17.00 hours.
Summer period (from the last Sunday in March) from 07.00 hours to 20.00 hours.

Come on guys, at least you can TRY to look at the website of the airport. It took me 5 seconds to get to the desired page.

Schiphol

Kind regards,

The terrace seems to be free again (but for how long I don't know). Could be because part of it is closed for construction work.

Another option is to use the large windows in the departure lounge after you check in and pass customs.

Thanks very much for the info, guys!

I have another question not related to photography but something that you AMS guys might know. My travelling companion will arrive by NW 38 (scheduled arrival 7:10 am) and connect to KL 1791 (scheduled departure 8:00 am). Is 50 minutes transfer doable? That was the flight given to him by NW own's reservation center.

Thanks again.

if he has his luggage checked thru, it's do-able (especially if he has a boarding card for the KL1791). He has to forget about the shops tho  Wink.

What have you been up to?

Spent half a year with no interest whatsoever in aviation. Didn't go spotting, no flightsim, no nothing.
To be honest it started because I was way too busy with work and study (took my first exam since 1996 last March, passed with flying colours), and I just kept going in much the same pattern.

Back now, though not with the same zeal and spending less time than in the past.
