Rejection - Too Bad!

Thu Dec 08, 2005 8:14 am

Hey guys,

I have to share this picture with you. Just too bad the quality is not the best... If anybody has an idea how to fix it, please let me know.

Not yet. What would be a good reason to appeal? (no reason=no appeal)  Wink

I would reuload with a little more contrast, and some selective sharpening in some areas that look slightly soft.

Super shot. Try what the others have said there. It may be accepted once these steps are followed. Again, great shot!!

Wow what timing,a 67 and a 57 simultaneous, but I am afraid the quality is not up to par,but appeal anyway because its a rare shot,I love it.

This photo is an excellent size comparison between the 767-300 and the 757-200. Great shot mario.

The crews and the passengers must have enjoyed that approach! I agree with the others, with some work that image should be salvageable.

well, I think we could lower the qualitybar on that. We all know the very famous shot from SFO. The quality of yours is much better. So why didnt it enter? I would appeal ...

Nice shot, had me confused for a minute, too early in the morning to be looking at that.

'2... Cockpits..?.... Oooh....'

and it shows just how silly the 767s wheels are!

Hope it gets in for you.

Would it be possible to see the shot anyway ?  Smile

I think it needs 0,005 CW rotation and if I get really close to my monitor I can see a bit of noise in the underside of the wings. It is not exactly centered as well (at least according to my laser beam measurement device). The U in United is slightly softer that the A in Airlines. There is an unreal blue color cast to all of it (I'd say about 0,1 % too much blue). The subject is way too common as well (how many UA 757's and 767's do we really need?), so not really surprised about the rejection.

Just my 2 cents.

This thread really mystifies me based on what a head screener said the other day

Quoting Tamsin (Reply 12):
However, unusual subjects and particularly unusual compsitions are positively encouraged, and leniency is made for content vs quality. If you caught a shot of an aircraft landing while being struck by lightning, the technical requirements would be inherently lower than a "regular" shot. That does not eliminate things like angle, info, category, dirt, etc. What it does mean is that a grainy, dark, off-centre image of something stunning will get accepted.

Well, give it a rest. a) we don't know who rejected b) even, if we know, what does it change c) we know the pic has minor probs d) is it that unique, that it must be accepted, hence the qual? ( I don't see any lightning) e) I am pretty sure we will see it ... , sooner or later.

Robin

I'm not saying that Tasmin rejected it, its irrelevant who made the mistake of rejecting it.
c)minor problems far outweighed by the coolness of it
d)see c
e)I hope so I'm working on it now.

All im saying is that finally a shot is upped that is more unique than say a AA 757 at MIA or other side shots at AMS and it has marginally bad quality (not any worse than things accepted in the last 2 years) and its rejected.

I think it's a wonderful one-time photo. I realy think there is an existant word in some "examiners" in this page and that word is envy. Some photos could or are better than theirs; and they reject it because of it. Some are people who are young and with a lot of prejudices. That is what I think and see. Some pictures in "my aviation" are as good or better than some in airliners.net. It all depends who looks at your photos at that time. So you never know (even if it's a grand photo) if you are going to be rejected...maybe from a boy of 18 years old...
