Without doubt the worst weather I was out in all year - though the company was very good  wink .

This shot is far and away my most popular in terms of number of views, and it has significantly altered my view about only looking to go out for fair weather aviation photography.

All the best.

It's been a fun year as I've met wonderful guys who have gotten me extremely close to the action. Ken Sodergren put me very close to 36R at DFW and I got this beauty coming in from Denver:

Sorry to all the good photographers here for my plug. I've checked my uploads ( even I don't remember the rejections if I had something useful as Phil said before..) and this is my favorite.
Reasons:
1. Is an Airbus 319
2. Because of the colour scheme. Fits very good in these small planes
3. A backlit photo.. Oh! My God! And accepted! (thank you Screeners BTW). I love the light reflected in the nose.
4. The jet blast..

Nice shots guys keep 'em coming. My number one favorite this year is probably this one. Over the summer, I worked nights, and almost every clear night before work I'd drive up to Centennial just to catch the last round of evening departures and enjoy the sunset and the cool air. The result:

Great shots guys.
But one shot means "ONE SHOT"!!!!!!!!!!
Not one of each type or one of each model it means ONE SINGLE Photo.
So please edit your post and pick your best phot for the year or would ADMIN please delete the posts with more than one photo in them to keep the thread on track.
Keep the great shots coming.

This was a tough choice but we'll go with this one! The spot this was taken from isn't the most popular spot around MEL because of the difficulties involved with getting out there and also because the light is pretty much always in a crap spot. It can give you good results though at the right time of day... This shot also highlights why I shoot in manual all the time!

There's a bunch of very good photos above, well done to all!

Here's my offering, taken at Watts Bridge on August 27 I reckon it's the best shot I've uploaded this year. The shot was taken at the annual Queensland Vintage Aeroplane Group's "Festival of Flight" and was my favourite shot from the afternoon I spent out there.

I've only managed to upload 137 photos in the last 12 months with my focus being on uploading new registrations to the database while at the same time trying to keep my uploading "pattern" as random as possible! My goal for 2006 is to keep working through my collection of digital and film works and upload more new registrations to the database. In editing my digial work I'm still working back in June 2003 so there is over 2 years of shots still to really be looked at and edited! With my print collection, that's only edited through till mid 2000 (from memory) so there is another 2 years of work there that I want to revisit! In addition to this I want to get busy in sorting, archiving and uploading Franks massive collection of slides. Sheesh, my goal for 2006 looks more like a goal to achieve by 2010!!!!!!!!!

Seasons Greetings to you and your families and all the best for 2006!

Some AMAZING shots in this thread - everyone deserves a pat on the back for a job well done this year. The standards were raised on us - and I would dare say that all of our rejection rates increased - but the result is quite evident in the quality of the shots now on a.net.

I waited a LONG time to get to the end of the runways at Midway to get this shot, so my personal favorite of mine this year would be this one:

2005 was one of my best years yet. I did not get out nearly as much as I wanted to, but I spent some time at PHX, LAX, SFO, MSP, HNL, ORD, RSW, and a number of other places. I met some great people along the way too. My favorite picture is not on Airliners.net by choice. My favorite picture on A.net from 2005 was taken at ORD coming back from HNL. I was excited to see not one, but two of UA's new color A320s. I had beautiful morning light to capture them both. One of them is on a.net:

Being a helicopter addict, herewith is mine for the year. The blades were perfectly lined up down the fuselage and the angle of approach was just awesome. The noise was sublime from this old beauty as she came screaming over our heads at about 50 ft. Thanks to Andre Coetzee for the flyby.

It illustrates pure essence of flying, and gives a perspctive which is rarely seen in overuled line aviation nowadays. For me it also represents great friendship I've made in the aviation world and 2005 is also my big step into the real thing as I'm completing my PPL.

Not my (technically) best shot of the year but undoubtedly my favourite. The thrill of finding obscure airframes at off-airport locations has been diminished a little since Google Earth and sat-nav makes the task so much easier. That being said, give me a (-5degC) freezing cold night, a motorway service station and a snowman and I'll be happy if there's an aircraft there too!  Smile

Like the others have said, I have even better awaiting upload. Someday I'll get around to it...
