B737 Airfames On A Freight Train

Tue Jan 31, 2006 7:05 am

Being a rail fan also I came across a interesting photo on railpictures.net. It is a freight train rolling through Montana with a pair of green b737 airframes. Anyone know any info.

I read an article in Airways a while back about that and from time to time they do find bullet holes.

Wow! That is an excellent shot! It's some loading gauge you must have over there!

Tim.

It sure is.

The EMD JT42CWR's (UK Class 66) I drive seem like a pretty big loco until you see one pictured next to a USA SD90 or something!

We've had arrows in the fuselage before. It's amazing what yahoos find to do when there isn't anything around but sheep. [biggrin}

That second fuselage will 99% be for Westjet as it's a -600 series!

Terrific photo. However, you may be visited at 3am by Swedish secret service agents for posting that link.
It takes a big man to admit they are wrong, and I am not a big man.

Two B.737 fuselages were parked on a siding at Snohomish, WA this last weekend. They often are stored here pending delivery to Renton. They were line #s 1894 and 1895. Happy spotting!  airplane

Did you notice what the block numbers were, in small letters underneath the line numbers?

Would be Y_xxx, where the underscore is a letter and the x's are digits.

Thanks to your tips, I found two 737 fuselages sitting on a siding in Shohomish. To get a good picture, I had to drive down some farm roads and finally walk a half mile through the mud, but I got it. The first photo just got accepted:

Way cool shot David! I remember seeing those roll through when I lived in Spokane. Really looks cool sitting on an 89 foot flat!

Railpictures? What a strange hobby - waiting for some metallic vehicle to pass by, taking pictures of it and getting all excited by the noise, the power... Weird!

When these trains pass through Renton, they frequently cause a backup in traffic along 7th ave, and a lot of slowing down on Rainier Ave as they make there way across the railroad overpass.
I've been caught waiting for them, happily shooting away from my truck window while most other drivers are cursing and impatient.
