Cable Release For 300D?

Mon Sep 18, 2006 10:10 am

Anyone know what the best options are for a cable release for a 300D? Looking to do some night photography and guessing on when to hit the shutter and for how long isn't very easy.

I have heard people are using hands free cell phone ear pieces but am yet to find one of those that work.

Any ideas?

Curious about the hands free Cell phone thing but you could head down to your local camera store and buy a Canon RS-60E3 Remote switch, nice thing about doing it that way is it WILL work

Cheers

Yes, that will work but is very expensive.
I got an imitation one off e-bay that cost less than a fifth of the price of the Canon one and that also works

Atomother,

Mick has a valid point but make sure you search for a RS-60E3 compatible device. With Canon remote switches it is NOT one size fits all!

Mine arrived this morning all the way from China via Germany and thanks Mick, it works a treat!

I ordered the Canon one off of Amazon last night for $16 plus $7 for shipping.

Hopefully they don't screw me and send me a knock off version or some other junk.

They might... the ones I found at Amazon for $15-16 were 3rd party ones.
Should not be a real issue the thing is not exactly high tech, it is just a switch on piece of wire and a plug.

Cheers

Do you specifically want a cable release? I've used the Canon RC-1 wireless for nighttime tripod photography, and just purchased the RC-5 wireless remote, and I'm quite pleased with both.

Was just looking for something that works and was hopefully cheap too. According to the site I orderd from, it is the Canon one.

I really don't see myself using it that often. Usually the 10 sec delay works fine but for taking photos at night of airplanes it is nice to have a little more control than trying to anticipate ten seconds out.

Hoping for some good stuff at DCA here in Washington. I think I will need some luck though!

Thanks guys.
