Spotting At BKK Airport?

Wed Sep 20, 2006 3:20 pm

Dear all,
any information if the new BK kAirport (Suvarnbhami) will have a open deck for visitors with possibility to take photos of landing/Ramp area?

Is there a general ban of plane photgraphy in Thailand?

Thanks for any hint!

I wouldn't try anything in Thailand at the present moment due to the coup which is in progress.

Found 771 pictures of Thai Airways from BKK in the DB so you obviously could take pics there.

Good luck anyway.

Spotting at BKK outside the airport sometimes can/could be hard because of police and military presence... Staying low profile will for sure not harm you

My guess is that Suvarnabhumi might be easier for shooting outside the airport since there is no military presence (air force) at the airport. But I guess we have to wait and see to be sure.

I might be checking on Suvarna in the beginning of next year to see how the situation is.

If you are interested in military aircraft it might be good to attend the annual childrens day in January. The military airport at BKK will be open for public and it is allowed to take pictures (at least in the last few years it was). Access is free..

It may be easier, but the airport used to be a jungle until a few years ago, so you may not come back alive if you venture into wilderness. Big grin
