Guidance On A Soft Rejection Please

Sat May 19, 2007 7:44 pm

I've had this one rejected for soft.

It was taken at 1/640 & f6.3 - very little cropping was needed thus the reason I uploaded @1600 wide (perhaps too ambitious with hindsight) - I have a claribrated samsung 244t which it looked fine on.

I find with the AA that sharpening needs care as the contrasting stripes on the fuselage easily get jagged up.

I'd like to re submit it so any pointers/comments very welcome.

Thanks

Hi Garry,

Stuart here, we met just after you'd bought that beast of a lens, probably where your picture in question was taken from, remember?

I can't for the life of me see why this image was rejected, it looks perfectly sharp to me but then, I'm not a screener.

I had one rejected yesterday for soft ....

I thought this was sharp and was surprised at the rejection .... yours is sharper still so I must've been way out!

Nope, can't shed any light on this one  Sad

Hope you're keeping well and still enjoying the lens!

Hi Stuart - yes I remember it well, hope all is good with you and you enjoyed your day.

Thanks for the feedback, your photo looks great, (not taken at Manchester of course), hope you get it through.

The lens is great fun and a wonderful piece of glass, does wonders for the development of your left arm though.

Best wishes

Hi guys,

Both these shots look perfectly good to me. Garry, thats a dam sharp photograph at 1600x. Maybe knock it down to 1200x and see how it goes?

Good luck.

Colin

I would say it needs a little bit more sharpening at the passengers windows and around the front of the fuselage, especially at the top and right side!

But I would give the whole picture a little bit more "unsharp mask" It appears a little soft to me at all!

But as Colin mentions best way is to resize it to 1200 and look what happens...

Cheers

Do not resize the current processed shot to 1200. Start with an unedited copy of your shot, level, crop and resize to 1200, process it and add an extra touch of USM.
