Having formerly worked tech support for a company that produced marginal quality software, I can offer this opinion. I think Aero145 probably has it about right, but of course other languages have characters that we english speakers consider "accented". I would suspect that any letter that has any sort of squiggle, dash or dots along with it will probably cause some sort of issue. I could be way off base here, but my former company ran into problms with stuff like this because the software only supported the character sets that it was coded with, in our case American English, so inputs from other ASCII character sets like from special character on French and Spanish keyboards caused issues with visiual spew.
